TL;DR
I think if its after the wave 10 credits are given you should just die. You're wasting yours and your fellow squads time. Now if its anytime before that then soldier on and HOLD THAT LINE..(overused and abused).

Geth Infiltrator is the soloing king imo, knowing where I can hide for a few moments and blowing Cannibals and Marauders brains out through walls while trying to hide from the 2 Banshees, several Ravagers, and several Brutes is easy...just not quick particularly, but I've soloed several higher level missions almost from the start of the wave, and even then I only need to use rockets if I really want to.

As a Salarian Infiltrator, any time I notice that I am the last one alive, I see it as a challenge. It might take me a while, depending on how many enemies are still on the field, but I will get it done. Nothing makes you feel more like a boss than saving the day and knowing that the other three just watched you do it.
If we are on a credit round, I am more likely to burn through equipment to at least get us some credits for our time.

Most of the time I try to carry the team after everyone else is down, and a couple of times its been pretty epic. Occasionally though I lose morale after the third or fourth wave in a row where I have to do this. Other times I kinda feel like people get annoyed when I do this, because it can take upwards of 10 minutes for me with my Widow I on Silver or something, depending on what wave and how much is left, and unless I'm trying to finish a money-making wave it seems like some people would rather me just die so they can get their credits and move on.
I've seen people quit in the time it took me to solo a wave.
I do have fun going solo though. About my favorite time was almost running face first into two Phantoms on Silver and somehow killing them both with my QI. I even got to kill one with a heavy melee.

I'm sure everybody loves to watch your sweet infiltrator solo for 20 mins just so that the team can fail in the next wave because they suck
