Would you have bought ME3 if the developers had spoken the truth about every single thing?

I think... BioWare might actually have killed video games for me. I'm taking up knitting.

For a while I felt the same.

But then I realised Darksiders 2 is out in June. I don't care how bad ME3 was, that game will restore my faith.

No preorder, no collector, waiting for bargain bin.

I'd most likely gone this route, perhaps even waited to purchase it used.

The one, and only, reason I would have even bothered to still pick it up - is just to 'finish' the story I started with the first game.

Yepp I'd still buy it.. After 2 games and knowing that this is the end of Shepard's story I would still pick it up, play it, and b*tch about the ending.

Hmph, maybe.

Having said that, I don't like being lied to. Probably the last time I preorder a sequel, better to be honest than to lie to your customer base.

Worst part? Had bioware offered a different ending with a $10 price tag? I'd have probably taken it... Instead, I sit here watching my multiplayer connections crash after wave 10, watching the collectors edition I paid too much for sit idle, and playing a steam game with no plot and a massive sandbox instead.

Deprive me of the illusion of choice (even deus ex gave more illusion of choice than mass effect 3!) and you find you lose my interest.

And yes, I know it's bioware's IP, but I won't forget that I've been lied to.

EDIT: and yes, I know I'm pathetic.

Some of the "truths" were pretty much against the devs, I think. They aren't so snide about them.

However, telling the fans, nope, you would have no choice at the ending, and we want it to be incoherent much and spoil 3 games in the process? Yeah.... not a chance. And then they have the balls to go all "dude, it's artistic integrity!" or something like that. Just... no.

I wouldn't of ordered the Collectors edition 6 months before launch. I would of waited many months before buying it from the bargain bin for a fraction of the cost.

If someone is interested in a good game with a very very good Sequel (yes with a capital s), try Arkham Asylum and then Arkham City. The firsti awesome, the seconnd is fuking epic.
It isn't a rpg, but its awesomeness make up for it.

I have both of those and can't get into either of them.

The production values are amazing, I just can't get into the gameplay.

Well, one cannot like every type of gameplay in existence.
My point though was more about the fact that Arkham City is everything Arkham Asylum was, but elevated to the nth degree. That's what a Sequel should be.
Even the mechanic of the Riddler's collectibles is enhanced by making it a side mission to free some hostages and finally find and capture him.

While BioWare's only mission lately seems to be "STREAMLINING! SREAMLINING! AND EVEN MORE STREAMLINING!"

By the way, sorry for the errors in my first post, but I really suck at typing from the phone :V

Yes, I dont play games for the ending but for everything that leads up to it and so far I've had dozens of hours of enjoyment from that. The last few minutes do not negate that.

I would have still purchased the game I expect, just not as preorder/first month or in CE format.

Yes I would have bought it. Not like our choice change anything important in previous game as Mass Effect is build upon Illusion of choice that make slight variation on the cutscene.

I didn't read any statements or watch any interviews before the release, I bought the game only based on the previous 2 games.

I was happy with what I got, so happy in fact that I bought a second copy of the game (and all the previous games + dlcs) on the PC (first play-through was on xbox).

I have strong respect for intellectual copyright law and dissaprove of copyright violation in nearly all cases.

Lord no I wouldn't have bought ME3 if the devs would have been "honest" and would have projected the proper set of expectations.

On the other hand while I wouldn't have bought the game I would be visciously defending BW for having the guts to take an unpopular stand AND not make a money grab out of it.

If you think some of the pro-enders are nasty here I'd have been a much more vocal defender / advocate of BW.

I would have probably waited for the price to drop to the sub-$20 range and then finally bought it just to finish my Shepard's story (and to see if people were exaggerating about the ending).

If they'd said these things (the truth) then I would have laughed until I realised it wasn't April Fools' Day, then raged like the 99% of other fans until Bioware promised to make it right. Then again, as it turns out, Bioware promises aren't worth much - so I probably would have ended up buying the game based on their promises to fix these things ... and then end up getting burned again.

But just on those comments alone with no promises to fix the game? Nope. Wouldn't have bought at launch - would have waited to see if the fan reaction (of those who bought it) matched my expectations. Just goes to show you why they talk all this bs pre-launch - grab as many sales on hype as possible (a LOT in the case of ME3), then who cares what happens - money in the bank.

No I would not if they had told us the truth about how the game would be. I would have not bought this game and saved my money for Star Wars Kinect.

Had Bioware said all of those things prior to release we would all have flooded the BSN with WTF? posts and attacked the stupidity of those ideas, and with a modicum of luck Bioware would have delayed the release of the game 3 more months and redone the ending.
