It should have been able to p*ss on random things in the environment to gain bonuses.

That's another thing they removed from DAO --> DA2.

Of course, the Mabari was a full party member in DAO. You could equip him, level him up, etc.

Now he's a summon and pet.

That's one thing I'm glad they got rid of, because that was just silly.

Though it is dumb that it's now a summon, of all things. What is this, Final Fantasy?

if you could take him as a free slot for every mission still maintaining his "character" status it would be a successful apply of the Mabari Hound

Look forward to the FFXV/DA3 cross over DLC.

I was serious..there are ME3/FFXIII-2 cross over costumes. FFXIII-2 actually has an Aassasins Creed look too.

Oh, trust me, I know about it. I knew about it a month ago, though I won't be getting it.

The mabari turned into a magical being in DA2. It pops up in a puff of smoke. Peeing is probably something it doesn`t have to do anymore.

In DA3 they should give us an Ash Warrior companion, who would basically be two companions in one - a Chasind man and his mabari.

I thought the way the mabari was implemented in DA2 worked quite well, actually. It allowed the player to utilize that resource in battle, as well as enjoy character interactions with him while at home. What frustrated me sometimes with DA:O was having to give the mabari a party slot, thus limiting (or at least causing some juggling with) the companion combinations and subsequent party banter. He wasn't always the best conversationalist.

I agree with this.

The dog's conversations with party members in Origins were funny, yes, but I usually left him at camp in favor of a more... articulate... companion.

In DA2, not only does each party member get unique banter with the dog (through the events at Hawke's house) but you can use the dog in battle without having to replace a party member. The only improvement they could have made, in my opinion, would be to have your party react to the dog being around.

The mabari (assuming there is one in DA3 of course?) should *not* be a magical summon. Have him as an extra party member by all means, but not a summonable one. It was slightly believable if you played a Mage, but just bizarre for anyone else.

I agree mostly.  Losing a human to have the mabari was lame.  Sad Mabari Whine.  Though the mabari was definitely cooler as a character when you can equip and level him.  Happy bark! I especially liked sending the mabari to tackle and maul mages!  Fearsome growl.

So given that the correct answer is always MOAR, it'd be cool for there to be an animal slot for a fifth character, but I don't know what problems such a fifth party member would cause.  Then again, maybe Mabari was a one-trick dog for Bioware, and they don't have any new ideas.

Then again...

PC: Fetch boy!
Mabari: Happy bark!
Mabari bounds away and then returns growling while dragging a flailing man that's wearing particularly noteworthy pantaloons.
Orlesian: I shall have your head for this, Ferelden teyrrrrnip!

Next Dragon Age Oghren riding one into battle. Come on his interaction with your Mabari was classic in my mind. Still want him and the Mabari chariot. In reality I don't mind them coming back in a full party. Was pretty fun using him to fetch different items and at times felt good about being nice to one.

You should have been able to use your Mabari PLUS 3 companions in DAO.I always use the "Extra Dog Slot" mod for this purpose, but seriously...he should not replace the,as stated above,"More articulate" companions. All in all,I miss the Mabari as a full crew member,I adored him.

I loved the Mabari companion...he would utterly tear through Mages and was a pretty descent Tank once he got Nemesis and his Overwhelm and Dread Howl talents raped!!!!...It's a shame Overwhelm had such a long cool time though :(

They should just Dog into a pet in DA3. Your PC can get him/her at a certain part of the story, and he/she always follows you around on adventures after that. He/she levels with you, you can choose between certain amounts of traits to customize, and you can gear him/her. Not to mention, all the nice conversations your party members can have with it, if her is there all the time.

*After Dog mauls someone/thing to death in slow-mo*
PC: Who's a good Dog?! Who's a good Dog!? You Are! Yes, You Are!
Dog: *Happy Bark*

PC: SQUIRREL!!!
Dog: *Excited Bark* *Quickly looks around*

PC: I hope that walking skeleton was worth that bone.
Dog: *Whine* *Gnaws on femur*

PC: What's that boy? What, Timmy fell down a well?
Dog: *Growl* *Huff*
