While I'm willing to give Bioware a second chance, I'm still wary. So I'll wait for some fan reviews and Youtube uploads before downloading.

I'm going to approach the Extended Cut with a completely open mind. Even if they refuse to change an ending I despise. maybe I shall just have to trust they are talented enough writers and directors to really convince me that their original vision has some merit. Even if the new ending is awful, I will just have to accept that ME3 is something of a flawed and inessential game and I'll get over it.

i'm going to keep posting this to get the point across

The endings are to be taken as is and what mac walters says about the mass effect universe hurts on a level that cannot be explained please listen for yourself

no its not free...We paid for it with the "From Ashes" DLC that they REMOVED before ME3 release for an UNKNOWN reason.

I agree with your idea but i don't see it happening thou. A lot of us in the (with)hold the wallet movement agree with you , but we know its for each person to decide if they want to download it or not.

We are always looking for new members for our movement though. If you want to join.

I think by the time the EC comes out the vast majority of Retakers will be more than willing to move on, for better or worse.

It has come to my conclusion that for "us" to get the endings we want, it is clear for us to not download the Extended Cut DLC.

Think about it, there are going to put a vast amount of time (maybe a little effort on the side) to make these [satisfying closure cut scenes] for us.

In order for us to truly be "heard" by Bioware and (get what "we really want"), we need to neglect what they are about to put in front of us.
They are practically saying "here take this DLC Extended Cut so we can get on with our lives". Which will mostly guaranteed lead to another massive ragefest of fans and players of the ME trilogy.

Pass this on to other people, pass it on to the RetakeMassEffectMovement, etc.
If you really want [satisfying] endings this is how you will do it.

Actually what i think they are saying is; if you want a different ending it will cost you.

The Extended Cut is all we're going to get. It's not exactly what we wanted, but it's the best that's going to be delivered. We're lucky BioWare and EA did anything in the first place.

Stop being such a victim.  You have the control because you are the paying customer.  That is why EA/Bioware is going to do anything at all - "nice" had nothing to do with it.  They are realizing that they are losing lots of paying customers which is going to impact their future earnings.  They still have plans to monetize the ME franchise - more MP DLC, possibly an ME4 (minus Shepard) I've read things talking about a movie based on ME.  All of those are now at risk because of the flap over ME3.

So no, this is not us being "lucky" or EA/Bioware being "nice" - this is what it has always been - business.  And in any sane business the paying customer has influence.

"Wary that the DLC will not actually address the problems that the paying customers have been raising all along", is what I think they are saying.

LinksOcarina, like I said I just wanted to bring enligtenment, no need for a ragefest from you because of my own individual opinion. Do what you must, "free will" kid.

Just make sure you apologize to me later, when the Extended Cut DLC makes you cry and gouge your eyes out.

Problem, you try to say its an opinion but you showcase it as fact.

Another problem, you assume way too much on things, which itself is an issue.

So maybe you should just stop now.

I'm moving into the 'don't care' phaze of all this. Is this what you wanted from your customers, BioWare? I haven't played ME3 in over a week and have no plans to. I haven't played DA2 since a week after MotA came out.

"Free" Extended Cut "DLC" that contains no playable content does not really appeal to me.

This is your LEGACY.

Small problem.

If you don't play through what they've offered, you cut your own legs out from under yourself to complain with any credibility going forward.

Retake: "The new DLC doesn't fix the problems."
Them: "Did you play the new DLC?"
Retake: "No... I just knew it wouldn't."
Them: (blank stare)

There's a lot of legless people bumming around then, because I'm already reading/hearing reviews of how bad the DLC is.

Personally, I don't feel that the Extended Cut is heading in the right direction to solve the problems I had with the ending, but I'll download it anyway, give it a try and save my comments 'til afterwards.

Gotta give Bioware the opportunity to rectify their previous errors in judgement imo; refusing to even entertain the EC will not further our cause, it'll make us look like children throwing a tantrum.

If they are indeed simply extending the horribly awful ending with the three color choices that all have the same result and really have nothing to do with Mass Effect, then I might watch it on Youtube, eventually...

Extended Cut is all there is going to be. Any "movement" after it comes out will not receive positive attention. That is just my theory.

Which is why we can't wait for it to come out. We already know what it is going to be. And we already know that it won't fix any of the problems that many of us see with the ending.

If we wait, then they win. They get to point and say "See, we made what they asked for. They wanted closure, we gave them closure. They wanted more clarity, we gave them more clarity. We even gave it to them for free, and they're still upset. There's no pleasing them, so we're going to stop trying."

The whole reason why they were able to score with this DLC in the first place is because we didn't have a unified message. They were able to point to some people who were upset and say "They want closure, they want clarity. They want to fix the plot holes. So that's what we'll do," while ignoring those of us who have fundamental problems with the ending. Those of us who recognize that all the plot holes, all the lack of clarity are just symptoms of the larger problem that this ending was shoehorned in where it doesn't belong. It violates every rule of good literature. When you do that, your story breaks down and you get plot holes. You get confusion. You get the mess we have now.

I'll do you one better. I'm uninstalling Origin. I only got it because I 'had' to for ME 3 I played with it turned off. now. tough.. since I can seem to find the desire to play ME 3 again... why do I need origin? I hate it conceptually and resent being forced to buy it as part of owning ME 3...

I'm going to keep a positive mind with the DLC. I mean, Patrick Weekes has a hand in it. Keep your spirits up.

Because I don't want BW to fix it. It's not fixable. I want BW to end ME entirely and move on.

It's not going to help. They are done with this issue. I suggest you just move on. If you don't like it, you can always tell them with your wallet on upcoming releases.

I loathe the ending to ME3 but before I continue my condemnation of Bioware I play the game with the DLC first.
