actually nevermind.
the sound problem just happened again. i guess it's random when it happens...
although i noticed in games where other people use voice chat the cutout didnt happen..
maybe it's related to that? i dont know...

the only thing that fixed the problem you're all talking about variations of that I have had happen was to reinstall windows 7 on my solid state drive 120gb made by ocz.
i did this since it was giving me an error to be able to play the From Ashes DLC which i managed to install since it came WITH the game collector's edition (sorry to anyone who has the normal version, i dont mean to sound like im bragging since it's still crap to deal with everywhere ingame and outside of it around it even, when i open origin, period.)

Same problem here; thirty seconds or so, no sound, challenge over, poof, it's back. Re-installed to no avail.

the sad part is this only happened after the patch with all the new mulitplayer stuffs.
sound usually seems to go out as soon as a grenade is thrown. it's the sound effect where you hear a buzzing in your ears that seems to cause the bug.
also i will bump this forever until bioware ****ing acknowledges it.

Yeah this bug has me pissed off also ... sound cuts out a few seconds into a match, all gfx run smoothly and game is playable to some extent (save for not being able to hear enemies coming or shots being fired at you), and then comes the hard crash at about wave 3 or 4. Windows error reporting pops up and of course never comes back with a solution. Restart the game (and even the PC) and the sound works until back in a match.
I believe i have had this happen once in single player also ... but this multiplayer one is continuous now. played for weeks before this without a problem.

that must be it then ... some auto patch from orgin that happened without me knowing. and since its automatic and im separated from the whole update process now (damn you new age "user friendly" features!) i have no idea what changes were made to what files or how to reverse it w/o some kind of game company intervention.

Found this somewhere else, but apparently any sound enhancements from software screw with the sound in game. I've turned mine off, while playing ME3, and haven't had any problems, yet.

Oddly, I had this bug before the patch. I would not get it until I was several matches in, however. I have not gotten the issue recently, but this is what used to happen:
The sound loss was not sudden, but it went fairly quickly after giving about half a round of static ridden sound effects, and then would drop off completely. It would return as soon as the match completed (on the score screen) by choking out some static riddled sound again, then returning to normal by the time I hit the lobby.
Once I was back in a game, it would make it's exit again, and I would have silence for the whole of the next match. I wasn't sure if I was overworking my laptop, or if it was a heat
issue. But the sound would only fail in ME3. If I completely closed the
game and restarted it, I would have proper sounds again.
I'm on Win 7 x64, ATI onboard HD audio (driver - 7/14/2010, v7.11.0.7708) on an Alienware MX17-R2.

I had this problem. I did a malware scan and clean. The stuff it removed was a bogus run.dll spyware process(es). It fixed my problem of sound squealching out after a few seconds in a match. Can't hurt to do this for your PC anyways. Good luck!
