I would not try any other fixes, until SP2 is installed. You may be making matters worse.

Gunny

EEK will-do. Sorry. < stupid. Waiting now.

On the plus side, Torchlight runs fine, MWF2 runs fine, L4D2 runs fine... id Just HATE to miss out on this badboy, as this is the one Ive wanted to play the most.

Latros_54,

Have NO fear, we will adapt and overcome! Has the game Never statrted since you got it, or is this something new after you've been playing for awhile?

If the fault I see above in the ati files is correct, then it's s display driver issue. So if you have the most current drivers... your card seems fine to run the game

An updrade to SP2 could solve it.. if that fails.. completely uninstall all your ati drivers and software (and I think there's even a cleaner out there that gets everything ati off your system)

then do a fresh install of the newest drivers

Wait a sec..... Pardon my caps. But seriously... the second I click "play" on the auto-run, I get the error message "Dragon Age: Origins has stopped working" - with the option to close it or "check for a solution online". I've tried both.

Why are you launching the game from the auto run??? And not the shortcut made on your desktop or programs menu... often a discs autorun file will crash....

If you haven't even installed the game... just open the cd/dvd... bypass and dont run auto run and manually run the set up / install file to install the game

Additionally if you are launching the DAO launcher that has the option to play, change game options, etc... try to run the game manually by running DAOrigins.exe

I knew it! It is nice to sit back and do the retirement thing! I retired out of Iraq, circa 1991. Had six months to retire and got dinged. Never saw it coming, not the way I wanted to retire, but at least I'm still kickin'............................. You sound like an awesome guy, I would have liked to share a brew or two with ya, but the world just isn't that small. Good Luck to you Sir!

I have a GeForce 8800 GTS graphics card, 3 GB of RAM, a duel core processor, windows vista 32 bit, and a 500 GB hard drive, but I keep getting the "Dragon Age Origins has stopped working"" error message and I have tried everything I can think of to fix it. I uninstalled/reinstalled the game, I downloaded the update for the game, I updated the drivers on my graphics card, ensured I met all the system requirements, tried manually installing the game, and I still haven't corrected the problem. Please help!

I was having the same "Stopped working" error. What finally worked for me... I went into my bios settings in the overclocking setup. It was set to auto. I changed it to manual and UNDERclocked it. I have an Athlon 64 dual core 4800 which I turned down from 2.4 GHz to 2.0 GHz. It used to hang after just a minute or 2 in game, and now has been ruinning fine for about 15 minutes. I did turn down a lot of the video settings to minimum, but just setting the minimums did not fix it before slowing down the processor.

OK, now I know to hit enter at the end of the space on each line for longer entries.

It doesn't auto wrap! =)

I have a random crushing problem. Iam trying to install netframework4. I hope this will fix the problem. I dont think the matter is ati driver. may be AA or Ati AI settings or worse CPU overclock. lets try :(

Hey guys, this was very similar to my problem as well. Im currently following the SP2 installation and will re-post if it fixed it.

BTW I'm using a NVidia 8600 GT on a mac book pro with dual boot vista ultimate, which i just re-installed. In the process of getting all the updates done and out of the way... only interesting thing is i have played it ONCE.

It let me play it, i updated it, set comp to sleep, went to gym, came back, and get "has stopped working".

Have a look in your Dragon Age log file to see what it shows for the last entries before it stops working. You can view the log file in Notepad. It's in your My Documents -> Bioware -> Dragon Age -> Logs folder.

I see that you guys were able to resolve the issue. Maybe you could help me? I was able to play through this game twice without any problems, but all of a sudden it says that it can't initialize Physx and I need to update my drivers. I have an ATI Card so I don't know what to do. I've tried reinstalling the game several times, not updating to the patches, and nothing works. I'm at a loss. I am using a 2010 27" Apple iMac. My graphics card is an ATI Radeon HD 5670 GPU.
