This is just my opinion on the ending of the game. Sorry if somebody else already said this, but anyway:
At first I was angry about the ending, just like everybody else, but this changed over the last hours.
What I think is that Bioware didn't have enough time to finish the game with an ending that everybody would be happy with, so they came up with this ending.
When you woke up after the beam hit you, it was just the final test for Shepard to see if you could really beat the Reapers.
In the mission on the Citadel, Shepard isn't wearing his/her armor, so the armor could been completely shot off, but that doesn't explain why the armor is still there at the "breath" scene.
You only see this scene when you chose to destroy the reapers, because this is the only choise to break out of the Reapers's indoctrination. The Reapers win if you chose to either control them or choose the synthesis option, and since they have indoctrinated Shepard, they can control him/her.
So when the final scene takes place after you choose the "destroy" ending, Shepard wakes up to finish the job, and kill the reapers once and for all! There is evidence to support this, when you look here: http://social.biowar...5/index/9727423
And Bioware would keep there promisse for not changing the current ending, because it just continues on how the game ends now.
So yeah, this is just what I think, and tbh I hope I'm right, because if this is the real ending, and it just stops, then it's a horrible ending to a perfect trilogy.
This needs to happen, my FemShep just has to get little blue babbies with Liara
