I'm so happy for you that your cat is back on her feet! I've had to say goodbye to three cats who I loved alot so I can emphasize with how you felt (Imagine a 27 year old man crying like a 7 year old girl at the veterinarians).

I had a cat who made it to fourteen years old before dying from old age (cancer).

He got prime scotch fillet (in addition to his normal food) every night for the last month of his life.

If I could've taken him to the beach and given him a live fish to chow down on I would've.

Make sure Xena lives the rest of her life like the queen kitty she is!

You guys are all such a caring and empathic bunch... It warms my heart to the core. Image IPB Bless y'all! As for Xena... We got our cat back! Image IPB Perhaps not 100%, but she's done such a massive turnaround that we now have hope she'll be with us a while longer. This kitty is the embodiement of the old adage "a cat has 9 lives." She's a battler! We are now feeding her Hill's Senior cat food, but are also supplementing her diet with renal wet food. We're hoping to switch her over to renal dry biscuits as well, but if she refuses, we're still happy with this current outcome. This means her phosphorus and protein intake is still halved and is therefore less taxing on her little kidneys.
Blessings to each and everyone of you! Image IPB

Nice photos and info on that site. ^_^

I'm glad she's doing better now, and hopefully she'll like the dry food you're trying to move her onto as well.

On the other hand, he might have just looked at the fish and thought, what's so exciting about a live fish? [smilie]../../../images/forum/emoticons/tongue.png[/smilie]

Thanks luv. It's not looking good. Xena's getting by on borrowed time. She's in the finale stages of renal failure. :( This is a helluva black Christmas this year!

That happened to two of my kitties, 'tis not a pleasant way to go at all. My dog is in the early stages of kidney disease (she's 15) but the diet has done wonders for her; tis been over a year now since she was diagnosed.

Good luck and give her lots of love.

Sometimes when a pet is diagnosed with kidney disease, they can go downhill quicker than others. I still hope she has some more time left, though...

I'm sorry to hear that. Maybe her last Christmas present will be the gift of not having to be in pain anymore, knowing that her owners are safe and that she was loved completely.

My thoughts are with you.

Thanks guys. <3 We're all counting our blessings and enjoying every moment with our little warrior princess. We've been taking stacks of pics and videoclips of our furry baby girl. I know CRF is an eventual death sentence, so it's not a question of "if" but "when" and we've learnt to cherish every day that goes by.

Battle on Xena!

I understand how you feel I had a cat Sparky for 20 years, I lost her due to liver failure it tore my world apart.

So I hope everything continues going well for you and your cat they really are little bundles of joy that bring so much happeness into your lives.
