on my 360 version i have the brightness fairly low, and in a well lit room it still causes eye strain. ESPECIALLY when you're trying to pick out the light blue objective markers against the high contact bloom and blurring,

LB, see marker, LB. All of 1.5 seconds. Not trying to be a wise-ass because it is tough to see, but that is the easiest solution.

It's more of a TV problem than anything. If you have a high end TV and play on good, crisp color options, it won't bother you at all. I love it. All it does is make it look bright.
I do this, brighteness turned down about halfway, and it's still very difficult to use. My eyes actually feel genuine relief when I disengae the mode.
It needs changing because it affects people in a horrid way.
It could look cool without causing people actual pain.

There is no manning up for eye strain unless your big on wearing stronger prescription glasses.

The hunter mode looks so freakiin cool so please don't change it. For those who complain about it hurting your eyes just man it up and play through it or turn the brightness lower. When I have hunter mode on it doesn't effect my eyes at all because i dont have super bright settings which you guys most likely do. Don't ruin the fun for others not effected by this.
Ah yes, so bioware should condone actually hurting people's eyes? This is actually a serious issue mate, damaging the eye's isn't a laughing matter, and though I hate this term... A true gamer should know this.

"Just man it up" is one of the most ridiculously stupid things I've seen said on this forum. You can't willpower eye strain and migraines away.
Making the hunter mode more accessible won't make it "not cool," and it most certainly won't hurt your playing experience.

I have a spyder 3 elite colorimeter on my computer to calibrate my monitor, and it even has an ambient light sensor on it to adjust the brightness to the current lighting conditions.
I'm curious to see if it's as bad as some people complain about, if you're using properly calibrated equipment.
Let's face it, most people don't realize how bad their displays are calibrated until you show them what it should look like, which is kind of why the calibration software at the end will show you before and after samples.

sure you can, just don't focus, let your eyes kinda space out and then no more problems.

I don't have a problem with hunter mode, but I do have a lifelong problem with both photophobia (not a literal fear of light, but that light is painful to the eyes) and headaches, and I don't find spacing out helps with anything except not paying attention.

1. Has nothing to with the brightness.
2. It induces a migraine.
3. My monitor is professionally calibrated and color-matched because I work in games, I'm not altering it for one application and one application only.
4. Thanks for being a immature jerk.

Certainly, if this started causing real health issues, then Bioware themselves could get in some serious trouble.
It just needs slight tweaks to make it less excessive on the additional effects, or otherwise an option would be nice to remove the effect entirely, just look at your geth's headlights to check, or a pale slight border.

It helps if people adjust their settings first. But it seems, from reading these threads, that some people are looking at it and immediately running to the forum to demand Bioware change it NOW. QUICK! Get a petition together! Then the assorted grumblings about how stupid Bioware is and yadda yadda yadda. I dunno, I prefer to see if altering my own settings makes it better before demanding a company dish out who knows how much money to fix something that may be fixable on our end. Money that could go to better projects, like fixing the endings or working on new games.
If there's nothing that can be done on the client side, then by all means Bioware should make changes. But can weat least TRY to fix it on our ends first? Just sayin is all.
