Strain on the eyes is somewhat general term.
I get headache from playing it too long because the image is blurry and doubled.

Now as far as Bioware fixing the issue, I'd be happy with them just adding some settings to toggle on or off certain effects. That way those who are lucky not to be affected by the Hunter Mode Effect, can continue to enjoy it, and those who are affected will be able to use Hunter Mode without physical discomfort.

I think this would be the best soultion for all the people having a problem with it. Some people don't seem to understand it enhances the vision of a Geth and for all we know each Geth unit has different types of vision and see the world differently.

The only problem I have with it is the objective markers are a little harder to see but i try to turn it off for a bit while doing those outside of that I have no problems with it.

Why is it so hard for people to understand that -- like a million other different things about the human body -- not everyone's eyes are the same?

Just because something doesn't affect you doesn't mean it isn't a legitimate concern. The selfishness here is just... mind-blowing.

It is just as selfish for others to ask for it to be removed. People are too bothered with their own concerns, how about adding a toggle switch for the graphic?

Then, by some miracle, everybody may just be happy...although I expect somebody won't be.

Are you telling me that a modification of hunter mode to help people with sensitive eyes would physically hurt you?

Unless that's the case, you have no right whatsoever to accuse people of selfishness.

I have a PC, and I haven't had any problems getting used to it.
It is a pain in the behind to see the objective cursors though...

Certain things become invisible when the background is a light blue sky... For example: The enemy. If they don't fix it, they should at least give us the option to turn the effects off and still retain the bonus dmg etc.

I never really thought that bioware fans as a general term (since I am one myself) were ever as bad as people thought.

But now, when something in the game is physically harming people, the main response (and seemingly the only one) from the opposition to not change it is "because it's cool?"

My god. No wonder no one takes this forum seriously.

If it's physically hurting people then it should be changed. How would you like it if the roles were reversed and it was getting headaches from playing, then people just told you to suck it up?

I wouldn't play the game or I would change something on my side.  Like for Orange Box/Half Life 2, I would vomit after 5 minutes because it gave me headaches so instead of crying about it I stopped playing it even though I wasted 20 bucks on the damn thing.

I agree! And Valve should remake the portals and left4deads as well so people who get motion sickness can play their games...it's physically hurting people. And Criterion should make the screen blur less when I boost in Burnout games, it's straining on my eyes. And speaking of eye-strain, nanovision in Crysis 2 is super painful! And don't get me started with those thermal scopes in Call of Duty....oh man.... <_<

While I agree that "suck it up" is an extremely insensitive & poor argument, the subtle point of "maybe one could handle it better" may be true (i.e. lighting, breaks--turning off hunter mode every once in a while, eye care...)

I highly doubt hunter mode causes ANY type of permanent damage to your eyes.

Here's some reading for you: http://www.pasadenae...faq08_text.html

And we're talking 1 optional power on two characters out of like 20+ it's not likepeople don't have options or are forced to use it.

You're right, but that doesn't really make it any less disappointing that there are now 2 characters they can't use. (at least not while utilizing their main ability.)

If you were vomiting, there was probably little Valve could do for you.

In this case - they just have to change a graphic.  One. File.

What is the rationale against not changing it again? It looks cool?

There's a trick I like to do with project management. If you think your argument is sound, play it against how it would work with your spouse/significant other.

Me: "Cool painting, huh?"
Wife: "It gives me a headache."
Me: "But ... it looks COOL."

Yeah. I know where I would be sleeping.

I'm surprised anyone would be in favor of keeping it the way it is.

It doesn't give me headaches or motion sickness. But the reality is, hunter mode is supposed to be an enhanced perception mode, and instead it adds a ton of visual noise. It a heck of a lot easier to see when the mode is off - which means it's massive failure as a perception enhancement.

At times I actually find that it messes with my depth perception.

I have the brightness higher than normal and I have no problems with hunter mode. The people crying about are just whining for the sake of whining.

I did notice that the mode is very bright, and I can see how it can cause eye strain.
That said my eyes actually hurt when I turn it off.

It's not the brightness that's giving people headaches, it's the blurriness and other distortions. No amount of fiddling with brightness settings can fix that. And I would bet that if you were one of us unlucky people that have sensitive eyes, you would be "crying" about it. An element of a game that causes people physical pain is a legitimate concern, and in this case, a very easy fix. All they need to do is tone down the visual effects, or like some have said, give the option to people to toggle them on or off themselves.

Things like this make me very sad for humanity...

Oh, all you people complaining about peanut allergies are just babies! I can eat as many as I want and don't have any problems, so stop whining about it! /sarcasm
