It's not the brightness that's giving people headaches, it's the blurriness and other distortions. No amount of fiddling with brightness settings can fix that. And I would bet that if you were one of us unlucky people that have sensitive eyes, you would be "crying" about it. An element of a game that causes people physical pain is a legitimate concern, and in this case, a very easy fix. All they need to do is tone down the visual effects, or like some have said, give the option to people to toggle them on or off themselves.
Things like this make me very sad for humanity...

I've been playing video games since I was 4 years old and have never had any problems with eye strain or headaches...until I turned on hunter mode. The fact is the hunter mode is practically assaulting your eyes with so many visual effects piled on top of each other. The "flashes" and "bright colors" have absolutely nothing to do with it. As I already said, what causes the problems is the blurriness and distortion effects.

Yes, how astute. This feature is so well designed it should remind players that they should stop playing games completely.

Or Bioware can do a simple fix that will let us use what would otherwise be an awesome character. If you'd read the other thread supporting the chance, you would see that there's a lot of people that can't even stand one game with HM turned on. When it's causing a reaction this severe in people, it seems like a small price to pay to simply give us an option to turn the effect off. It wouldn't hurt anybody else, and will let us play without headaches.
If Bioware had intruduced the class right off the bat with toned-down HM, can you honestly say you would be complaining that "There aren't enough visual effects, I want more blurriness!" Simply saying "no" because you're annoyed at people for wanting to change it is no reason at all.

Have you actually been reading anything I'm writing? I've laid out why people's complaints are perfectly valid. People who have never had problems with playing games before can't even go one round with HM on, and this is not a valid complaint? Changing it will not hurt a single person here, and asking those of us who get headaches to "man it up" or "stop whining" is frankly ridiculous.

Are they cool? Sure... I guess.
Do they get in the way? YES.
Took me about 5 matches to get use to them, or at least to the point where I could ignore them.
Still, it seems like un-necessary visual gimping, just like the "rage" mode for Krogans. The effect of both are just visual overkill.

Maybe videogames should be more accessible and not implement features that cause a significant number of players physical pain.
Maybe people who don't experience that pain should stop trying to be internet tough guys.

OMG - you are so right. Your brother with sensitive eyes is the MILESTONE BY WHICH ALL UI SHOULD BE BASED!

Exactly. If Hunter mode was originally less visually assaulting, I highly doubt we'd have threads saying 'HUNTER MODE IS NOT INTENSE ENOUGH, TURN IT UP' It seems the only reason people are opposing the change is because it's the status quo. If people are in PHYSICAL PAIN and hence unable to enjoy playing the geth characters, this needs to be fixed.
By the way, I have spent several hours playing geth without experiencing any eyestrain.

Sorry, I realized my use of all caps may have made me not clear. And seem insensitive.
Your brother has sensitive eyes. I'm sorry, that sounds painful. I don't even know what that means. I don't have sensitive eyes. My eyes are fine. My eyes might even be donated to science not for being excellent, but just a excellent example of being fine. I stare at a wide variety of monitors all day long: smartphones, laptops, HDTV's, etc. Aside from forgetting to blink from time to time - I do it for hours on end just fine.
Your brother apparently has problems playing video games for hours without pain. That sounds like it sucks.
What Bioware has done is this:
They invented a UI which makes my completely fine eyes behave like your brother's. Saying that is OK is kinda like saying "well, my sister has to use a wheelchair. So inventing a car which breaks people's legs makes perfect sense to me. I don't understand what people are complaining about."
Amazing what people will make a fuss out of, if you ask me. Some people say it looks cool. I say it looks like a somebody randomly slashed my HDTV with with xacto blade and made me wear somebody else's glasses. Matter of opinion I guess, except for all the PAIN IN MY EYEBALLS.

It's more of a TV problem than anything. If you have a high end TV and play on good, crisp color options, it won't bother you at all. I love it. All it does is make it look bright.
simply not true but assuming all people are different some might not find the hunter mode annoying/hard on the eyes, however, most do, so i'm sure a few tweaks wont ruin anyones game and make a lot more people happy

Given just how many things mess with my senses (and being photophobic - that is, bright light hurts my eyes), I am surprised that hunter mode doesn't bother me more. It's not my favorite thing in the universe, and the patterns of hexagons, triangles, and lines makes it hard to make stuff out behind the patterns, but it doesn't seem to hurt my eyes.
And yet, I can see that if it hurts someone else's eyes that it is legimately reasonable to ask for a change for the sake of accessibility.
Also, multiple people have said that it bothers them on their HDTVs and LCD monitors, so Sdrol117 seems to be entirely wrong about what causes the problem. Many have said it's not brightness at all, but the blur and graphics.

some people are not comfortable with it. "Cool-looking" stuff on the screen are fine but it should not be at the cost of people's health.
They can still have the Predator markings on, but they should tone down the blur effect and the over-exposure/over-brightness.

The hunter mode looks so freakiin cool so please don't change it. For those who complain about it hurting your eyes just man it up and play through it or turn the brightness lower. When I have hunter mode on it doesn't effect my eyes at all because i dont have super bright settings which you guys most likely do. Don't ruin the fun for others not effected by this.
You ruin it for everyone! Bioware dont listen to this troll.
I havea LED TV so its naturally brighter than standard tv.
It does hurt your eyes and it its bad.
