 Hello,

I downloaded Dragon Age Origins: Ultimate Edition from amazon.com last weekend on my home wifi network and played for about 8 hours. On the way back to school, I loaded the game in the car and the configure screen opened up and did something, so I closed the game and then reopened it on a different wifi network at school. To my dismay, the "load game" option was greyed out and unclickable. I know my game is saved in my hardrive because I can see the files in the Bioware folder, but it doesn't show up in the main menu. I tried talking to an EA game adivsor about it and he said to wait a 24 hours and try again, so I did that and that didn't work, so a different EA game advisor told me to post in the forums for some advice.
I should probably mention I am very new to gaming in general so if my problem is actually pathetically easy to answer I apologize for my ignorance :(

Impossible to guess without more information on what exactly the configuration screen did when it "opened up and did something". Changing wireless networks should not affect the game... although your game probably hiccuped when it tried to log in and couldn't, causing your DLC to become unauthorized.

The only thing I could suggest would be to download and install patch 1.05, which fixes DLC issues, and restart the game. See if you can connect online and make sure all of the DLC is "Available" (which means it's authorized). Try to access your saved games again.

BTW, your graphics card is not supported by the game; I don't know if it would cause the load game issue your suggested.

RI
p.s. If you are going to be traveling alot, I suggest once you get Patch 1.05 installed and the DLC's authorized, *disable* the automatic login function and play the game offline.

I downloaded the patch and restarted, and I was able to connect online, but still couldn't access my saved game. Additionally, when I clicked on Downloadable Content, there was nothing available (I'm not sure if this is what you are referring to or something else).
In the mean time, I remembered what the configure screen did: It rescanned my game when I opened it in the car. Then when I tried to go to the launcher screen, it was like I was starting the game for the very first time, without ever previously running it.

Is there anything else I can do short of starting over moving on? It's frustrating because I can access my screenshots, my character and everything in the Bioware folder, although for some reason some of my Bioware  folders are stored in "My OneNote Notebooks" and others are stored in "My Documents."

The "Avaialble Content" tab will be blank if you already have all the officail DLC (which you will, since you have the Ultimate Edition.) Go to the "Installed Content" tab of that screen to see what's there.

There should be NO saves under "OneNote" at all (unless you deliberately copied stuff using MS-OneNote.) The game will not recognize that folder as one to search for characters/saves. Everything should be under "\\My Documents\\Bioware\\Dragon Age\\Characters..."

Each character has their own folder, with a "\\Saves folder within that.one, and then each individual save in its own folder named "\\slotxx".

Fixed it. I moved all of the Bioware folders into My Documents and I can resume my game. Thanks!

Wait, I lied. I'm able to click on "Resume" but when I do, i get a message saying "Can't load game. Requires Dragon Age: Awakening." which I already downloaded when I bought Ultimate.

edit: apologies for the blank post. apparently i don't know how to delete forum posts either, if possible

I took care of the blank ;)

Thandal is very correct, BTW... sorry if my suggestions were a bit confusing. I don't currently have DA:O installed on my PC, so I am navigating menus by memory.

Now... Awakening. There are a few causes as to why it could me missing. Check out the "Solutions Roundup", linked below in my sig, and you'll see links about mid-way down the first post that address this.

That error message would indicate that you are trying to "resume" a saved game in DA: Origins that was made in DA: Awakening.

Instead of "Resume", try the "Load" option and then selcect the appropriate character and save manually.
