OP, if you had played ME1 and ME2, you'd probably have a better appreciation of Hackett.

Personally, I Posted Image the guy. To see him in person for the first time was epic.

Even though the voice actor was good, I hated Hackett since Arrival. He was just ordering Shepard around and had stupid nodding animations. The person/people who did the animations in ME2 understood how to use body language, and knew the proper vantage point during cutscenes. In arrival and ME3 it was just stiff people standing around or hunched over like husks and camera zooming into faces from a million different locations every 2 seconds and in the middle of sentences.

No wonder the forum moves in FTL speed when people seem to be incapable of using the search function and/or insist on creating their own topcs about things that are already being discussed in several other threads Posted Image

Nope he is awesome.

What I don't like is how they wrote him in with such a huge roll, it works but I would rather I be the one giving the big speech and everything.

Hackett and Anderson were the only ones from the alliance who never pissed me off. They both place their trust in you and will always support you no matter what choices you make.

Also I find it hilarious how some only dislike Hackett because he orders you to do stuff. You guys would never survive the military in real life and I'm surprised you didn't mention the council in the same sentence because as a specter you take orders from them.

 <3 Hackett.

It was the best part of Arrival imo, and happy to see him in ME3.

He got my love in ME1 after he told me that I punked Khalisa al bint-whatever during our interview because she came across as a raving loon.

Why would you be the one doing that for the fleet? Your just a Commander.

I dunno, maybe because I was the one who recruited all of them and fixed their terminal societal problems?

Doesn't make you the most qualified.  Unlike Shepard, Hacket and Anderson were the ones who put all the plans together.

Like Elnora, or Alistair, who made the rallying speach before the Army charged the Dark Spawn at Denerim.

I didn't like it when Hackett tried to blow up a refinery full of workers just to stop Vido Santiago. I mean, who does that? And that tattoo on his neck is atroche.

I disliked that savig his friend turned into Shepard becoming a war criminal and that he sent us on errands trhough ME1 while we were chasing saren but in three I liked him because he was fully behind Shepard and helpedus get war assets.

That's not how a military works. It doesn't matter how decorated a person is. They still follow the chain of command. It would be like a O-5 commander going over the head of an O-10 Admiral to adress the pacific fleet during war. It would never happen. Period.

Uh, is the future? As a biotic, I can throw Cerberus operatives into walls WITH MY MIND.

Just because the military does it now doesn't mean they can't do it in the future.

After all, no-one in the ME universe says, "Commander FemShep? We can't let her onto the front lines, after all, what if she gets PMS or gets her period during combat?"

If your Shep is a BoyShep, think Ashley or Miranda...

Ridiculous, right?

Well, why doesn't the USA allow frontline women soldiers?

See above.

See, in the future they've realized the idiocy of that (plus Steve and Kaiden and Kelly and Diane and Samantha don't have to do the whole "don't ask, don't tell" thing).

So surely they can get over the whole Rank is Everything! Schtick.

You're an idiot. Whether today or in the future, an Admiral is still a freaking admiral. FemShep and Ash are allowed on the frontline because it's sci-fi. Women are kept away from those roles today because it's completely impractical due to the fact that having a period once a month in a combat zone inconveniences every other soldier in the unit, women are less capable of physical violence against an armed oponent and most men in a brawling fistfight with teeth, nails and pure unadulterated savagery would massacre a woman Not discrimination, just common sense.

Honestly, it doesn't have to make sense. Having Shepard be in charge of the war assets ala the Suicide Mission on steroids would be such an awesome gameplay feature that most ppl would overlook the logic of him/her commanding said war assets.
Instead, when the admirals plan everything, we get a glorified horde-mode level, also known as Priority: Earth.

@Grey Wind. True, but claiming that in the future that an Admiral won't take precedence over a Commander is idiotic. Remember, Hackett was the one who oversaw the management, resupply, administration and strategy of the combined fleets. Shepard may be the one who recruited everyone, but considering that Hackett's been doing everything for much longer than Shepard, you can't blame him for being the one to give the speech.

That said, Priority Earth sucked.
