No. I like Admiral Hackett. Don't know why you would hate him.

^^^^^^^

Who saved the Turian Head command, bringing the Turians onboard?
Me.
Who Ended the Krogan genophage, bringing the Krogans onboard?
Me.
Who ended the war between Quarians and Geth, bringing both races onboard?
Me.
Who gained the support of the Omega Mercs?
Me.
Who gained support of the Rachni?
Me.
Who gained Asari support?
Me.
Who brought the entire galaxy together in mere weeks?
Me.

So who the living FRACK does this Admiral Hackett thinks he is to give the "Rallying Speech" to the troops before the big push?

Wouldn't the other races be like, "Who the heck is that? I'm here for Shepard!"

Admiral Hackett- the Kanye West of Mass Effect.

Where was he when I died? Not helping.

Where was he during my court case, where he could have pointed out I was acting on his direct orders? Hiding in the corner like a baby. He sent me but in no way helped me out in return.

Hackett oversees the creation of the Crucible. He may lead the human, but I'm the one getting out of my comfy ship and forging alliances and am in many ways the leader of the GALAXY.

Anderson fights with the resistance, on foot, without a ship's armour between him and death.

Hackett? Hides behind ship armour.

If I can tell Rear Admiral Mikhailovich
masseffect.wikia.com/wiki/Rear_Admiral_Mikhailovich

to take a running jump, I see no reason I can't tell Hackett the same.

Anderson- my Shepard respects 100%.

Hackett- not at all.

Hackett only delayed my trial so I could go take care of his "Dirty Little Secret". Once I'd done that, he disavowed all knowledge of the direct orders he'd gave me. He made sure I had no teammates to back up my story and gave the orders surrupticiously.

Then after I'd done EVERYTHING he asks, I get put on trial and he disappears, leaving it to ANDERSON to help out?

Gimme a break.

But when you realise that Hackett is actually the true head of Cerberus
social.bioware.com/forum/1/topic/347/index/11349228/1#11350206

Then it makes sense.

Remember, I'm speaking of what MY Shepard thinks.

Yours is free to look at this differently.

Then in ME2 Arrival Hackett sends Shepard on a special mission straight into a trap set specifically to lure in and capture Shepard. Hackett could have sent any number of N7 operatives or a whole team to effect a rescue. There just is no logical reason to contact and send Shepard while Shepard is both affiliated with a terrorist organisation and known to have been previously KIA.
!

I glad you not a millitary leader...You lack so much forsight it's staggering. Ask your self this...What happens when a Cerberus agent is caught on that mission? What would happen when an alliance agent is sent on the mission and caught?
N7 agnest are part of the alliance, if one is found on enemy territior, the alliance on caught under suspect even if they deny the N7 agent works for them. Being that the person they are rescuing want to blow up a system, I wouldn't thing the bartairians would not go to war over it. Now, if we have a cerberus Agent go in......Nothing points to the Alliance.
No war is chanced.
Now Shep is with cerberus.......If seen or caught, the alliance can say He/she is a cerberus agent and it end at that. They have no suspect pointed to them. It's called deception, it's a thing peopel in Command have to learn to use.
Understand it and you will understand how the military think.

The rallying speech he gave... sucked. He has no emotion in his voice, and the repetitive debriefs he gave over the course of the game made me hate him.
He was awesome in ME1 and 2 though!

I see that people are itching for more vitirol or at least "passionate" debate so they post inflammatory things in hopes of getting people riled up.

I'm... ambivalent. I'm sure he's damn good at his job but... I'm Shepard and (one of the toons I made, anyways) got messed the hell up and ended up having to destroy a star system, the least you can do is step up to plate and admit your part in the ensuing shenanigans.

Shepard should have just gone pirate.

Well not much to say here hackett is who he is and did who he did and you either like him for it or hate him for it. I am in the like him camp.

I think alot of people misjudge the impact he had because he so rareley appeared in person. But while we where off playing diplomat (an asinine way to describe the me3 events you where hardly in a rose garden drinking tea lol i know that just bear with me) He was commanding the human fleet keeping it out of trouble building the Crucible. His part in the events of ME3 was probably just as if not more important thatn yours. Same for Anderson. Somehow I really hope some of the dlc is done from hackett or andersons perspective showing more of the resistance on earth or the construction of the crucible and the delaying actions faught against the reapers.

Reasons why Hackett gave the speech:

Who was buying time for Shepard to get the alliances established?
Hackett.
Who was co-ordinating the combined fleets and getting ships in place for evacuations?
Hackett.
Who got the Crucible built while keeping it safe from the Reapers?
Hackett.

Face it, Hackett IS the coolest cat in the Mass Effect universe. Without him getting Liara access to the Mars files...it would have been a very short war. And again, he's an Admiral, Shepard is a Commander. Rank is rank.

Regarding the last post made on the other issue, a lot of things happen in wartime. Democracy is occasionally suspended, martial law is implemented, rationing systems put in place, etc. But in peacetime there is no need for these measures, and indeed they just get in the way. Case closed.

Hackett is also the one sending valuable resources on one way missions to distract the Reapers, he's effectively sending hundreds, if not thousands of people for the sole purpose of dying so Shepard can gain support of the other races. He's got blood of millions of humans on his hands, and later aliens; Shepard has nightmares about 1 kid, Hackett probably doesn't sleep.

@Akrandas. Now that I think about it, Hackett is probably in serious need of a hug.

In the first Mass Effect, try refusing to do the 80% paragon quest he offers you near the end of the game. That old man will turn into a total ****. I just want a renegade response that tells him "Screw you, Saren's on Ilos right now, I don't have time for this you demented old fart."

@Sauruz, why would a Paragon hesitate to go save some innocent people?

I doubt even Shepard could comperhend whats going through Hacketts head. Sure, Shepard sees everything from the ground, but his view is limited. Hackett would be getting reports coming in continously of countless human worlds falling to the Reapers, he would watching fewer and fewer ships coming back from Patrols and raids.

He's probably the sole reason that the Alliance still has ships to even be able to fight. Shepard felt bad about abandoing Earth, but Hackket; it must have been a tough decision to to pull back every ship he could and leave Earth to the mercy of the Reapers, even when his own captains would have been questioning that Order.

@Akrandas. Even worse, he had to sacrifice the entire Second Fleet to allow the Third and Fifth to escape.

I did the quest in my first Paragon playthrough where I just completed every quest I could find, but in another playthrough I just wanted to do the quests as it made the most sense and felt the most immersive to me. The old man should have backed off when you told him you had more important stuff to do. He can always find somebody else to do it in the Alliance.

He was fighting wars and killing reapers long before shepard was even born, If I had to guess his back story, I'd say hackett is zaeeds older and cooler brother whose twice as badass as him.

Besides, having a dick measuring contest with the highest ranking member of the military doesn't seem like anything any shepard would do, renegade or paragon.
