What is yours? Can be any game on any system you felt was underrated.

I'm going with Jade Empire. Perhaps Bioware's most underrated game. Came out at the end of Xbox's lifecycle and didn't garner much commercial success. We'll probably never see a sequel to such a great game. If that game came out on PS2 instead of Xbox or just waited until 360/PS3, we might still be seeing versions today.

Indigo Prophecy. Its in the vein of one of my favorite film genres of the late 90's. It's really underrated, but brilliantly done for the time period. One of the best games ever. Also the 1997 version of Blade Runner for PC was a decently made RPG that has gone unnoticed because it has nothing to do with the film, but it links back to it in a lot of places.

I'd probably choose Alpha Protocol. I think the game is far better than people give it credit for, and really think a big part of the reason many people gave it low scores/bad reviews was solely because it was an Obsidian title.

Two Worlds.

I love unique ideas so much I can overlook a lot of shortcomings for that.

Also +1 for Alpha Protocol and Indigo Prophecy (though it goes boinkers near the end).

Damn, I forgot AP. It's a game that used BW's own dialogue wheel and consequence system correctly, in a really good espionage story. Also another favorite.

Ohhhh

Indigo Prophecy and Alpha Protocol are both good examples, IMO.

Alpha Protocol could've been a great game. It just needed polish. I read some things about the development of that game. Basically Obsidian didn't give it a chance and just butchered the entire development.

It's very similar to Bioware games, only they did some things better. But the gameplay and bugs were a complete mess. If you could forgive the flaws in AP, it had some deep qualities about it. But I can see why people criticized it so bad. I'd love to see another RPG like AP. Bioware make a new IP like that? lol

Indigo Prophecy was just a awesome story experience. I think that game was better than their newest game, Heavy Rain, which isn't a bad game either.

The dialogue system is really great. Your timed so it adds to the tension and forces the player to think on their feet like well an Agent would.

I have to say Psychonauts is another. Here's hoping to Double Fine is working on Psychonauts 2 with all that kickstarter money.

Alpha Protocol. And I agree with Jade Empire. It was a very good game, though it could have been more.

Although I loved your pick, I doubt any of the kickstarter money would go into Psychonauts 2. Notch was interested in publishing the title, but it was reported that he backed off once he learned how much it would actually take to get the game off of the ground.

I think Notch just likes to hear himself talk.

Alpha Protocol

Wizardry 8 as well.  The developer had to publish the game themselves at the time (Digital downloads hadn't become viable at the time) and that hurt the company financially but they wanted to get the game out to the fans, Sir-Tech had to move on to other things due to that however Wizardry 8 was an incredible RPG that didn't get the mainstream attention it deserved.

I have to agree with everyone in here. Alpha protocol.

As for something a little different, the Romance of the Three Kingdoms series is great as well, and Koei is finally releasing a sequel this year.

Another little gem is Steambot chronicles for the PS2. A sandbox, steampunk mecha game where you could join a band, battle and customize your mech, trade for money, take jobs, and had a mutliple path story.

Mirror's Edge is another great but overlooked game.

Every now and then a glimmer of hope for a sequal comes up but nothing comes of it.

Still have a blast running the subway tunnel level.

I agree. Despite the flaws and how short the game really is, I just love Mirror's Edge. The scenary, the music, and even the style of gameplay just makes the game awesome.

There's still that glimmer of hope since it has been said that Mirror's Edge 2 will run on the Frostbite 2 engine... course for all we know they may have indefinitely put off Mirror's Edge 2 :(

I like New Eden, Pirandello Kruger, and Kate levels.

I tried playing it but within 1-2 hours I encountered multiple level killing bugs and I haven't touched it since.

- Alpha Protocol
- Might & Magic VIII (Bashed for primitive graphic)
- Heroes IV - wow expansion (Both have best campaigns story-wise for a TBS game)
- Knights of the Temple 1 (Best hack & slash ever!)
- Victoria 1 (Despite the world map being a little deformed and those damn revolts, everything else was great in this Empire Building Strategy)

Two Worlds II. Not the best game ever, but it was a good game. It was dismissed by nearly everyone because of how awful Two Worlds was.
