I'd probably choose Alpha Protocol. I think the game is far better than people give it credit for, and really think a big part of the reason many people gave it low scores/bad reviews was solely because it was an Obsidian title.

I tried playing it but within 1-2 hours I encountered multiple level killing bugs and I haven't touched it since.

Age of Wonders. I still play that gem once in awhile but it recieved almost no attention at launch or after. It does still have a thriving community website though and it did squeeze out a sequel.

Brutal Legend. I never realized an ex-Pixar employee worked on it.

The Darkness was great as well.

Sid Maier's Alpha Centauri.

I have no clue if it got a lot of recognition -- since I got it I think a year or two after it came out? Maybe even three or four -- but goddamn will I state that whatever recognition it did get it deserves more.

It's one of my favorite games and one of the very scant few where graphics will never be an issue for me, allowing me to replay it as many times as I want.

Colonel Corazon Santiago and Lady Deirdre Skye FTW.

It's one of the most popular scifi turned based strategy games ever! "Like Simcity and Dune" mixed together.

Knee jerk response:
- Legend of Dragoon
- Legend of Legaia
- Megaman Legends 1 & 2 (I apparently have some kind of weakness for anything with "Legend" in the title.)
- Anything Obsidian has ever touched.
- Batman Arkham City & Red Dead Redemption (I know both of these are popular, but not popular enough to reflect how good they are, IMO.)

I agree. Despite the flaws and how short the game really is, I just love Mirror's Edge. The scenary, the music, and even the style of gameplay just makes the game awesome.

There's still that glimmer of hope since it has been said that Mirror's Edge 2 will run on the Frostbite 2 engine... course for all we know they may have indefinitely put off Mirror's Edge 2 :(

I like New Eden, Pirandello Kruger, and Kate levels.

Kate was definitely my favorite chapter. Especially the nearve racking climb to the top of the scaffold with the excellent music in the background.

It's one of those games that has a cult following but gets a lot of criticism which is a shame because it's a unique experience.

And as i always say Um Jammer Lammy. Insanely underrated and made invisible by Parappa The Rapper of which it's a spin off game. It's far superior in every single way and just plain fun. But it was given mostly poor reviews in magazines and basically ignored.

Fully modded Silent Hunter III. It is a highly realistic WW II - era submarine simulator with a good amount of  RPG elements.

Being a product of Ubisoft Romania, the out-of-box game  is very potential  but ofc utterly dysfunctional pile of broken code and promises. However, people who dig WW II era naval warfare immediately saw it's massive potential and began fixing and modifying it.Tireless work by community has resulted in countless mods, mod-mods(yes, mod-mods. :P ) and mega mod compilations that  have turned  SH3 into a highly polished  game unlike any other.

You spend  some fourty mins  tracing, tracking and shadowing a heavily escorted convoy of oil tankers. Once you have figured their approx route and speed you pick a good attack position and begin carefully manouvering your submarine to place. While rushing/sneaking to position(depending on situation, weather, escorts, time, etc) you begin calculating a firing solution for your torpedos. Hopefully you get it all done properly by the time your location in relation to passing convoy is optimal. You fire the torpedos.

That 1-4 minutes it takes from firing torpedos to them (possibly) hitting your targets offers sensation unlike no other in video games. All that work, all that math, all those estimations..did I calculate everythign correctly? Did I insert all the right readings to the mechanical excuse of targeting computer? Did I remember to flood the torpedo tubes properly?  Did I get my angle in relation to the convoy ships right? 1-4 mins is plenty of time listening to silence only ticks of  your in-game stopwatch breaks, wondering all these things and hoping you get to hear some  explosions.  It is exiting and rewarding  as all hell.
....And then convoy escorts begin hunting you.

I liked Ys, though mainly for Ark of Napishtim.

Then again I know almost every game people have listed so far and liked a lot of them.

Space Rangers 1 and 2. Must have, IMHO.

From same studio (actually same people, studio got renamed/reformed/resomething): King's Bounty, there are three: Legend, Armored Princess and Crossworlds, hard to say what is add-on, what is expansion or something.

Fantasy Wars - a bit "niche" game, a-la Fantasy General, so if you long for it, give it a try. Has add-on Elven Legacy (distributed as stand-alone game, yet it is add-on) and mission packs - Rangers, Siege and Magic. Good stuff if you miss old Fantasy generals and minis table tops.

Also Majesty 1 and 2 - indirect control strategy type games. Majesty 1 is old, about decade old, but still delivers. Majesty 2 is sort of remake, made by same studio that made Fantasy Wars.

Gothic, especially 1-2 (sale on Steam, ends in six hours from date of this post or so, so make haste). Image IPB

Demos to most of them are available at gamershell. Maybe some on Steam.

I bought KB last year, Legend one. Quite entertaining game I felt.

Isn't space rangers an set of adventure titles, point and click format? I might have it confused with something else.

Now that I think about it I might be thinking of Space Quest.

Napishtim's good, hopefully XSeed releases it on Steam like they have with Felghana and soon Origin.

I plan on buying one of those games since it reminds me of Guilty Gear. I need a fighting game in my collection.

Indeed. And quite challenging, if you into.

They're both made by the same dev. :P

If you're looking to get one of them, then it chould be Continuum Shift Extend which is the most up to date version with the largest roster and with the most story mode content.

The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask. To me, it's still the best Zelda game ever made and Ocarina of Time is nothing compared to it. Hell, Ocarina of Time is just overrated.

Okay I am going to be honest, I have never encountered the bugs people talk about when I played Alpha Protocol (PC version)

Probably one of my favorite games of all-time. I really do hope Quantic Dream comes out with another multiplatform title, I don't have a PS3 yet.
