I know lots of people who care about games, and nobody even knows what JA2 is. I'm glad someone does though. I do know it has a following, of course. I am actually thinking about starting up another playthrough.

Many people are scared away by bad graphic. For example, if it is possible for them to deal with JA2 and, say, Fallout Tactics, JA1 and Fallouts 1-2 are off the charts - they too ugly (not to mention compatibility issues with modern OS).
Not sure JA1, or Space quests were underrated (though I like only SQ1-2 and 5), or, MAX. They just old. But good. Dilemma. Image IPB

Heh don't worry, we're on the same page here. Just trying to explain the "low" scores.

If you played Mass Effect 3 there is nothing to be afraid of. Except logical storytelling, lot of refs for old fans and different endings, based on your decision. Geez, could be scary!

Thief 2 and Alpha Centauri cannot be rated highly enough. Thus, they are automatically underrated games.

Alpha Centauri and Civilization II were reaped by epicness of Civilization III!:

I always here people complaining that Bethesda permanently ruined the Fallout franchise, and that it can't hold a candle to Fallout 1&2, but despite having a somewhat unoriginal story for the main quest line, I still thought it was pretty good.   My point is, that Fallout 1&2 fans tend to exaggerate its flaws.

Well, I'm not Fallout 3 fan, yes, but I must admit - it is much better than ME3. And more reasonable priced.
Funny enough, my complains to F3 and ME3 are almost identical - questionable weapon systemImage IPB, meh visuals, somewhat acceptable in case of F3 - relatively "free" and "open" world, bad anims, mediocre storyline (with minor exeption here and there, for example, other than pyle of goo I had no problems with F3 ending, really) and, in many aspects, both games feels like demo of future projects, not like full products. Bethesda talently copy-pasted visuals from F1-2, add soundtrack, transfer familiar fractions and somewhat people, but forget about some ethereal essense named "atmosphere". It just wasn't their franchise. They've done right, relaying FNV to Obsidian. Not sure what Bioware will do, but maybe Mass Effect: New Tuchanka could be exactly same ME3 I was hoped for.

You found ME3's visuals to be "meh" compared to ME2 and ME1?

They probably do yeah.

That said, I do think New Vegas was better than FO3. Honest opinion. The gamers I know in real life seem to be of the same opinion.

This does not mean FO3 is a bad game. It has a lot going for it and I wouldn't hesitate to call it good. But it still didn't hold my attention half as long as New Vegas did.

Yes. For me "visuals" are not limited with protagonist mug textures and some bewbs and cleavages on "closes teammates".

I don't see how they are worse than ME2. They seem pretty much on par with it. That is, they are not as crisp as they could be on PC, but overall I think the style works well. I still find the sprint animation absolutely awful though.

New Kelly look. -5 points outright. New Anderson looks: - 5 points. New facial-anims/lipsync... Well, should I really list all that? I don't care if some bulkhead got better textures or leaves finally moving, I can ignore old blurry textures if rest of the game delivers and look adequate, even if those textures rip screen in half with their poor resolution. I'm very forgiving to many things. But there are too many of them to ignore all them.

NEW VEGAS. BLOWS EVERY BETHESDA GAME SINCE MORROWIND OUT OF THE WATER, AND ARGUABLY ONE OF THE BEST ARPGS OF THE LAST FEW YEARS, BUT OH NOES THERE WERE SOME BUGS THAT GOT PATCHED OUT THE HUMANITY!

How is New Vegas underrated?

A SURPRISING NUMBER OF PEOPLE WILL JUST WHINE ABOUT IT BEING BUGGY WHENEVER IT'S MENTIONED, AND AS MENTIONED, 84 METACRITIC.

That's because the game is about as buggy as your understanding of CAPs. 84 is a pretty good go for a game riddled with plotholes, cheap forces that make no sense, a backstory that conflicts itself, a combat system that only works when it wants to and enemies that are as about as intelligent as the zombies from Dead Rising. New Vegas is overrated if anything.

Edit:
Also, how is "The Illusive Man deserves a better ending" a spoiler? Did people not realise that the Illusive Man was a Mass Effect character?

I don't think that game is underrated lol.

It garnered commercial and critical success. Won many GOTY awards too.

I personally preferred F3 over New Vegas myself. Obsidian's style of that game...felt off. Technically, it did many things better but overall, wasn't better than F3. I can't quite put my finger on it. Bad quest design? Bad setting? Atmosphere wasn't nearly as good? Too much of the same thing? Not really sure.

With last sentence removed I find your description fitting to another game, currently located in the middle of speculations, yet, somehow, receiving perfect scores. Image IPB

Remember PR: game was designed as best place for newcomers to jump in. They have no idea who TIM is.

New players won't know who Shepard is either, does that mean that the giant Shepard to the right of the page is a spoiler?

Cutscene from Eternal Darkness: Sanity's Requiem. In this cutscene, you are playing as Paul Luther...one of the many, many characters you play as in the game. A choice you make early in the game will determine the type of Guardian you come across in this cutscene.
