Good guys win... was that so hard?

When I think of Star Trek, (classic) Star Wars, LotR, any superhero, or absolutely anything... they all have that in common. Sure, we lost characters along the way, and sometimes we lose or thought we lost the hero, but regardless of who lived or died... they won in the end.

Shepard: "I'm going to win this war, and I'm going to do it without sacrificing the soul of our species."

Great, that sounds fantastic... but the ending of the game completely negates that quote. Well done.

I really just don't get it. I don't see why they felt the need to mess with a sure thing. The series and ending would have been remembered and loved for years even if it was simple. What was done was not necessary.

It's like Superman playing football and the game winning touchdown is a sure thing, and then he decides to throw kryptonite onto his back to make it harder for lord knows what reason... then drops an inch before the goal line.
