Kids like boss fights, cultured mature adults prefer deep, thought provoking, mentally stimulating endings.

Am I right or wrong?

I believe Bioware is choosing NOT to cater to the MTV generation of "kids" who are 13-25.  Instead Bioware is choosing to cater to their more mature audience and striving to push the limits of todays youth.

Bioware i respect you for this.  Most Bioware writers are probably over the age of 28 right?

My challenge to the young generation of ME players is this.  Try to think like a mature adult instead of a silly kid wanting a boss fight at the end of the game.  I say this with the deepest respect possible since the youth have to carry the torch. Consider your limits pushed.

If I come off arrogant then I apologize in advance.

Not ME3 story or campaign related, since we got neither.

I haven't REALLY played a game with a boss fight since RE4. And I'm 20.

Posted this elsewhere but I'm going to put here to because it's relevant (and I'm lazy but shush):

I don't think a gameplay confrontation is strictly necessary, but one of the many problems with the ending is a lack of any confrontation with the ultimate enemy. Instead you meet the leader of the enemy you've spent three games building up to defeat and have spent all of this game building a fleet to take on, and you accept his nonsence without question and pick one of his arbitrary choices. In the end they introduce a brand new, and barely relatable to the rest of the story, antagonist, and then it becomes the protaganist, and that is deeply unsatisfying.

At the end of 1 and 2 I wanted to stand and salute my Shepard and squad mates because they'd faced insurmountable odds and won, there is nothing like this in 3, they need to add a genuine sense of overcoming the enemy, and you could do this through cutscenes, seeing all of you collected war assests thrown at the reapers and harbinger in particular for example, though I don't see how that is possible with the current ending remaining intact.

To be honest I want the extended cut to fix the destruction of narrative cohesion, abandoning of genere and ideas of the story, and the ignoring of key themes more than this, but again, because this is only an 'extended cut' this also seems unlikely.

When do we get one of them there deep, thought provoking endings? All we got was crap.

I'm 16. I enjoy deep thought provoking scenes in games instead of boss fights. Are you trying to tell me I'm a matured adult? It's just about what people are interested in, some like emotion in a game, and some like anger and colors to be flying in their face throughout the game. It's not as much about age as it is about their interest in the storyline and not just the gameplay.

I can practically guarantee I am older, more educated (I would be extremely surprised if this was not the case) and probably far more sophisticated than you.

I hate the ending because it is badly written, plothole ridden, narrative destroying, illogical tripe not because it didn't have a boss battle.

Seriously get over yourself.

No one ever asked for a boss fight. Hell, I'm glad the Illusive Man boss fight was cut, because it would be a total betrayal of his character.
The whole lack of Harbinger boss battle thing, is because it would fit Harbinger's character and it felt what having him as the villain of the entire Mass Effect 2 was building up to.

Bioware is not catering to anyone, only the story. If they had a longer production time, I bet they would have worked on a way better final level than take on some generic Reaper enemies that you've been fighting for the entire game.
I totally support the calls for a Boss Fight, especially against the Harbinger, because it would be a total sense of accomplishment.

I disagree that Bioware's current ending was 'deep'. It was provoking, but only in the sort that provoked anger and confusion. Sure, it sure as hell was mentally stimulating considering I had to think over and over about it for weeks until it finally made sense in my mind.
It was a rush job, and a failure though. I would disagree that Bioware cut the Boss Battle out of attempting to create a 'deeper' ending. They cut out any final battle just to shove in the abrupt ending that we received.

I personally did not like the final Illusive Man confrontation. Lack of music, combined with a terrible ambiance. The writing was good, but it still felt like a betrayal of TIM's character and a terrible plot point that we already saw coming miles away. Then add onto that after the elevator to heaven, and the entire ending went down the drain.

Including a boss fight has nothing to do with the quality of an ending. Look at the ending of Knights Of The Old Republic 2. The final battle was the ending, and it was a very wonderful scene involving the student against the mentor. Again, it was rushed by an impatient publisher and left us without conclusion, but we actually felt like we had accomplished something in the end.

The connection between having a boss fight and 'deep' meaningful endings is false. Maybe you believe Mass Effect isn't just one of those story's that climaxes in a final battle, but a majority of fans believe that we should have received some form of a brilliant climax.

You are reading waaayyyyy too much into and giving too much credit to CH/MW with an ending that was as blindingly badly written as what we got in ME3. "Cultured, mature adults only like thought provoking endings?" LOL

I don't mind the lack of boss fights but accusing people who enjoy those to be immature is pretty insulting.

Personally, I feel the lack of boss fights at the end is attributed towards the lack of resources and rushed development rather than narrative direction.
