Bioware i respect you for this.  Most Bioware writers are probably over the age of 28 right?

I actually liked TIM as a 'Boss fight'. IT was not a combat one, sure, but it was a great trial of wills that was just great to play through. I agree when the devs (I think it was Hudson?) said that making a 'final boss' would feel contrived and too 'videogamey'. If TIM had just pulled out a gun and started fighting me, and calling in mooks and whatnot, it would definitely have felt like a cop out. Really, if the game had just ended with you and Anderson sitting there while the Crucible works just fine or not depending on your EMS, it would have been a fantastic ending.

The only problem I had was that Harbinger got next to no screentime, no dialogue, and no resolution apart from the implication that he was affected the same as the other Reapers by the ending. I felt like he deserved to go out with a bang, either getting shot down by the Normandy, the fleet, or something.

So I guess Tetris is the most mature game ever because it has no final boss at all.

:lol::lol::lol:

Thank you, nitefyre410!

Btw, to OP, I am a 46 y/o woman, and I am not much for boss fights, thats true, but in this case I'd rather have that than ...nothing.

When I came here (not long ago) it seemed very clear, to me, that it wasn't the lack of a boss fight people were upset about. It is the non-exisiting ending.

The whole series just vanished, the last few minutes of the game. It didn't end - it vanished.

So yes, I'd rather have an ending - boss, thought provoking - any (read: anending would be better. (imho)

well in a technical sense... there couldn't be much that Shepard could do, he was pretty @#$@#$ up by the time he made it to the dead bodies n' mess. He hardly held up his pistol.

So boss fight was already canceled right there.

As for the troll post... yeah...yeah... a whole lot of quasi-intelligentsia.

You turn the power off on your console/computer right before Hackett tells you that the Crucible isn't firing.

My challenge to the young generation of ME players is this.  Try to think like a mature adult instead of a silly kid wanting a boss fight at the end of the game.  I say this with the deepest respect possible since the youth have to carry the torch. Consider your limits pushed.

If I come off arrogant then I apologize in advance.

Surely the writers at Forbes are just MTV generation kids too, then? You can say this is a sophisticated ending, but it's very difficult to leave more plotholes in your story than those found in the Bible. I think your ego just hasn't accepted that you don't get it either.

46,000 EMS - only achieved in Single Player mode ....with a little help from Apple? :innocent:

(N.B. I'm a Mac-owner, who has loved Apple products for more than 20 years, but I do not approve of the unfairness in all this EMS-hunting)

OK, someone, well several, said trolling. I'm off the off topic now, and should probably leave this thread alone, as others have mentioned.  (couldn't help myself, sorry)

That is way deeper. I feel a little stiffed on closure, but i'll take it, for now.

Only thing that this "deep" ending stimulates are your adrenal glands when you want to break something after finishing the game.

Lol.

Witcher 2 has boss fights, probably the most adult and mature video game out today.

Stfu. They're video games lol. Boss fights are a staple and shouldn't be removed because a game wants to be different, especially when it hinders the games quality.

A boss fight is often supposed to be the final test for the player. A final boss should be like your school finals, the final exam. It's the last and final test. If you paid attention during the rest of the game, this final test shouldn't be too hard. If you screwed around and never fully mastered this game, this final test could be quite hard. But after beating this test, after defeating the boss, you should feel satisfied. You've proven that you indeed are the ultimate hero. Such an accomplishment will give the player much more satisfaction and much more closure than a "deep and thought provoking" ending.

Uh, I don't want any boss fights. ME3's endings were neither deep, nor thought-provoking, nor mentally stimulated.

The Witcher (2), a game 10x more mature than Mass Effect (3) will ever be, with a story that it 100x deeper than Mass Effect's story ever was and 1000x more thought provoking than Mass Effect (3), had a boss fight. So your entire argument is invalid.

Mass Effect is not mature. Mass Effect's ending isn't deep. It's also not thought provoking, it isn't mature and it isn't good story writing.

You want to play an actual mature game with actual mature storytelling that is actually deep and thought provoking? Go play The Witcher.
