Since this thread has no point, do you guys like pancakes or waffles?

Pancakes.....waffles are for 15-25 yr olds.

Ooooooooooh you stayed on topic! Virtual high five for you!

But I disagree with that assertion, I know 40 year old who love their eggos.

A fellow Tarkovsky fan!

No offense OP, but I am well over the age of 30 and the ending is nonsensical, faux-artistic crap.  The only thing that could have made it worse would have been to add a dancing midget.

Tarkovsky's Solaris had a midget and it's will always be infinetly greater than the ending we have now. Seriously if feels like the bastard child of Tarkovsky that has NONE of the talent.

Maybe ME3 should have ended like "The Sacrifice", with Shepard burning down the Citadel and being hauled away.

Or Ivan's Childhood and having his death be announced via paperwork. (I just realize how the ending could have been worse.)

It worked for Tarkovsky but not for Hudson and Walters.

FYI for art minded people. Don't try and be Tarkovsky, you will always fail.

Oh OP, you're doing satire right? Cause it's not like the main issue everyone has with the ending is the nonsensical narrative and space magic! That would be silly! Surely all we need is a boss fight!

Right?

Ah, Luz. Thank you for implying once again that a certain part of Bioware's fanbase is too stupid to understand the ending.

You are really craving for reports, aren't you?

I hope this is maximum satire, because nobody in their right mind would believe that.

Anybody who grew up on videogames, as in these 'mature adult' gamers you speak of, would probably prefer a final boss fight; even if that's not the case i'm not going to call them childish because they disagree with me. The videogame 'formula' is there for a reason, much like the accepted formula for writing. A final, ending confrontation is something people are naturally comfortable with.

Also inb4 "I only play mature games for mature gamers such as myself"

If you are a "cultured mature adult" and boss fights are for "kids". Give me Beavis and Butthead, Daria, and Jackass any day of the week.

Disclaimer: haven't watched MTV since the early 2000s so replace those shows with whatever the kids watch today.

What a pity, the ending included neither of these things.

Ripping the endings from other games and movies and slapping them into your own narrative carelessly is not thought provoking or deep. It's just poor, somewhat unethical writing practice.

I'm 32 years old. I've been to war, dealt with more than a couple life or death situations, and made sacrifices for loved ones that people just shouldn't have to make. I've been to 5 different continents, interacted with people of many different nationalities and religions, and read heavily from religious and philosophical texts from all over the world. I am a very cultured, very mature adult. I am not at all uncomfortable with thought provoking, mentally stimulation situations, and I wanted a boss fight.

Respect so far. I apologize if I offended you in some way.

I don't play many video games. I bought one game between ME2 and ME3 and it was a strategy game. I play video games because they are fun, because they are a light hearted and simple minded escape from real life.

Some video games are intended to be this way. Like super mario brothers or tetris. ME1 & ME2 gave you the happy endings you desire. The endings of ME1 & ME2 fit the nature of the threat presented in game.

I don't NEED a video game to feel mature or deep. I already know I am. For some people, those who make video games their life, an occasional detour into realms of deep thought may seem like a fun excursion, a mental exercise that you can reflect upon, and then tell yourself, (and anyone on the forums who will listen) how mature you are for liking it.

Video games have multiple levels depending on what you want. Bioware games fall into a deep level of gaming beyond that of simple video games.  There is a difference amongst the level of video games. Some are meant to be simple minded like you said but some (like bioware games) are deep.

Some of us, however, already live our lives in deep thought in a very real and very mentally stimulating world. When we play video games, we want the hero to ride of into the sunset, or, if it fits the theme of the game, to make a heroic sacrifice that illustrates the positive traits that are far too uncommon in the real world.

We had this in ME1 & ME2. Do you really want it all over again in ME3? It wouldn't be believable based upon the threat presented in ME3.

So don't come here and tell me that I am a child for wanting a boss fight at the end of a game, because when all is said and done. I'm going to put down the controller and go back to the real world where you can't face down the embodiment of all your problems and defeat them once and for all, whereas you are just going to start on another game, and get some other happy ending somewhere else.

I hear what you're saying man. I do. We had these endings in ME1 & ME2. Dont' you respect Bioware a little bit at least for pushing our limits with the ME3 ending? For me it was a believable ending.

You call me names yet I wouldn't think for one second to report you for it. I respect your emotional response. It's realistic.  Who am I to judge you for how you feel.

This reminds me of RedLetterMedia's review of "The Phantom Menace", where RLM says that unless you are the Coens, Werner Herzog, Jim Jarmusch, Stanley Kubrick, etc. then you should just stick to the basic formula.

Am I right or wrong?

I believe Bioware is choosing NOT to cater to the MTV generation of "kids" who are 13-25.  Instead Bioware is choosing to cater to their more mature audience and striving to push the limits of todays youth.

Bioware i respect you for this.  Most Bioware writers are probably over the age of 28 right?

My challenge to the young generation of ME players is this.  Try to think like a mature adult instead of a silly kid wanting a boss fight at the end of the game.  I say this with the deepest respect possible since the youth have to carry the torch. Consider your limits pushed.

If I come off arrogant then I apologize in advance.
