Kids like boss fights, cultured mature adults prefer deep, thought provoking, mentally stimulating endings.

Can't we have both? A boss fight gives you a sense of closure to a game, but enough can be left open for a deep, thought provoking ending. I think the ending would have been less unsatisfying if there had been a boss fight. Husks and a Marauder just don't give that feeling.

If it had been a horde of husks, that you fought through to the beam, or through the citadel to where you meet Anderson and T.I.M. that might have worked.

EDIT  I'm 30 btw, so not a kid.

I believe Bioware is choosing NOT to cater to the MTV generation of "kids" who are 13-25.  Instead Bioware is choosing to cater to their more mature audience and striving to push the limits of todays youth.

Bioware i respect you for this.  Most Bioware writers are probably over the age of 28 right?

My challenge to the young generation of ME players is this.  Try to think like a mature adult instead of a silly kid wanting a boss fight at the end of the game.  I say this with the deepest respect possible since the youth have to carry the torch. Consider your limits pushed.

If I come off arrogant then I apologize in advance.

...multiplayer ?? how about THAT? because the majority of kids prefer Mp instead of a story and dialogue anyday.

I agree, in a sense.

It doesn't need a boss fight (unless it was natural) but the current ending neither is intelligent or deep.

It contains idiocy, laziness and just plain bad writing. Then the fact that Bioware employees outright lied about the ending is another thing. Even the BBB said it was false advertising because what Bioware described was the exact opposite of what the delivered and Bioware didn't say these things years ago but just months.

Just a quick rundown on what was said:
-Rachni would be shown fighting reapers
-Ending wouldn't be A, B, or C with each being extremely similar
-Ending would be determined by even previous games' choices

John Epler when I made a thread asking if dislike for the ending was an age related thing I got locked because of implied elitism.

Luzarius gets away with a nine page trollfest?

Let's not do the double standards thing okay?

If you are implying that the ending to ME3 was deep, thought provoking and mentally stimulating, then yes: you are wrong.
I did not mind not having a traditional boss fight, but those final five minutes deserve none of the attributes you use to describe them. They're riddled with plot holes, shoddy writing, poor characterisation and circular logic.

Oh, and I was born in 1979, as my screen name suggests.

good endings have both. played any metal gear solid? regardless if you like or hate the ending they have meaning in the final boss battle and then addition cutscenes afterwards.
The circle is complete.

But I don't know how you are supposed to fight harbinger without something cheesy. I just want closure cutscenes that make sense and that were apparently planned from the start like they said they were

Luzarius cannot possibly hold this opinion, due to how it touches upon every single goddamn hot button issue on this forum. Without even trying to justify why he might hold this point of view.

In fact, every single post I've seen him make seems specifically tailored for maximum flame potential.

Therefore, I'm convinced the OP is either a really bad troll (honestly, who advertizes their website on troll posts?) or a hipster.

problem is people dislike different things about the endings and the main complaints get lost in the sea of typical complaints and the media pick up on the ones that make us look childish (no offence).

I don't support arguements about:

Boss battle
sad ending/ happy ending - lil blue children

However I support arguements about:

broken promises: lack of closure, endings

potential plot holes/missing information

cutscenes?

choices don't matter - i appreciate how 'all paths lead to an ending' but where were the consequences of krogan, geth....rest of hammer team. If your hammer team sucked shouldn't you of been more overwhelmed. Maybe a cutscene of wrex and grunt supporting the right flank and zaeed and mercs holding the left flank with alliance troops..If you don't have some assets you get overwhelmed from both flanks and a short cutscene to illustrat this then: choices = effect gamplay. I think Drew said this would of been his plan. Lil things can make a difference. Instead if you have no krogan support they are jus left out of the cutscene I am assuming, with no consequence, or it atleast seemed like that.

Oh and potential sloppy writing by introducing an out of place chaos concept. Looks like they added it right at the end and then  went back and added  javik and rannoch reaper dialogue to make it look like it was planned and supported. Felt really out of place.

Also the story arc comes to an end in this game or so Casey said...... this means absolutely anything can happen...i was so excited. It meant ME1 and ME2 endings differences were limited due to a follow up game but not ME3... and then they give us 3 colours

This thread disgusts me.

****** on the memory of Marauder Shields why don't you all!

http://www.tumblr.co...yj6peNOC1qgjh4y

Was he not enough for a boss fight?

So that's boss battle covered. What about thought provoking?

Sure, it was thought provoking. It caused me to really sit down and pick it apart for all its flaws, and I think my textual analysis skills are better for it.

Might have pushed by English class grade up.

I really liked that the last battle of the ME trilogy was one fought with words instead of a traditional boss fight. The ending may have been poorly executed, but I think there are some great ideas in it and having the final confrontation being a verbal one with TIM and Anderson was a great move. Mass Effect has always been about characters/dialogue first and combat second, so its only fitting that your final battle is one fought with words.
