Just wondering which version of Nova do you like to use?  The one big hit, or the two smaller hits to perhaps keep some extra shields handy?

I roll with single. You can effectively be invulnerable with single or double, but double achieves it more quickly.

I use single for singleplayer and double for multiplayer (less room for error)

You only need double if you're carrying a heavy loadout. With 200% faster recovery, single works just fine.

Double, but I never use it twice between Charges. I generally use Nova as CC stunner, not damage dealer. That is reserved for a shotgun of my choice (usually AT-12 Raider).

I did use full Nova on my Claymore Vanguard run, because the +25% recharge speed bonus can be stacked up to +100% recharge speed bonus. It's pretty neat.

I always go with Single. As Veovim says, with a 200% recharge, you can generally still get off Charge to renew your Nova on the off-chance an enemy survives your barrage.

ayyyyup.  Although Half Blast's damage ain't shabby w/ all power upgrades + Barrier boost.  Not only does double Nova let you abuse the **** outta invincibility frames, but it also allows you to set off consecutive biotic explosions, esp. with Javik's Dark Channel.  My Vanguard was kinda like your biotic bomber Sentinel, Kronner, except I WAS the Throw.  By far the easiest/fastest Insanity run.  I didn't even begin to really appreciate different level designs until I played a Soldier.

During my first Vanguard run I was like wtf is this..everything explodes and I am not even trying. Then I figured ME3 Vanguard = PortableMassRelay.
I got bored of Nova spamming real quick though, fortunately Nova works well in a support role too (and yeah, Half-Nova still does a ton of damage). For me, Vanguard is so much more fun with simple Charge+shotgun in the face than NovaSpamGuard. A big thanks to BioWare for AT-12 Raider/Claymore/Graal..these shotties pushed the fun level even further for me:)

Single nova all the way imo. running around with my plasma shotgun only and i can't really die, biotic charge spam and your shield is full again and one nova almost kills everyting with the right gear

Oddly I tend to go single in multiplayer and double in single player.

Reason being that in Single Player I roll with squad cryo ammo and Liara as my favorite biotic pal. Cryo and Biotic explosions coupled with lots of bonus damage upgrades that factor last in the equation means my Single player Double Nova hits about as hard as my multiplayer single Nova. On top of my enemies being CCed heavily already, it gives me the opportunity to Double Nova without damage received for the bonus 20% built in, if I land both.

Stuff dies.

Half blast is better. But it is like "should I take the Ferrari or Lamborghini to work?" Both will get you there faster than should be legal.

I just played a NG+ with my Vanguard and, wow, I should have started on Insanity. It was a cakewalk the entire way. I didn't even need squadmates. I just charged/single nova and ripped everything to shreds.

ok now i would say u need half 4 gold, half makes silver easier but u can do it with single, & Half and single on bronze is up 2 u...i can run a whole mp lvl by myself on bronze with unknown map & enemy & i am running half...the human vanguard is jus gross...now for sp i would still say its up 2 u cause u have allies with u but 4 me i would probably do single so i know 4 a fact that they r dead cause sometimes ur allies r not around

I have a question.

It says in Nova's description that damage is determined by shield strength; with that in mind, does using Barrier in conjuction with Nova give it any extra punch? If that were the case, I'd choose double rather than single, and have Barrier as my bonus power.

barrier will give u more damage if u take the rank 5 Power Synergy...now to asnwer the next question ur probably going to ask...No...adding more to ur shield will not increase nova's damage that its done...what it says for the damage done when u open up the tree 4 nova is the damage done when u have 100 % of shield anything less will make the nova do less...now if u have half blast 4 nova then as long as u have atleast 50% or more of ur shields then u will still do the full amount of damage
