Halo by a country mile. Even before ME3's ending I considered it better than Mass Effect.

Come and get me!

Funny how missing or extremely rushed endings can ruin even the most brilliant game  . And in KotOR 2 at least there were epilogues of some kind (provided by Kreia, I agree she's an amazing character).

Starcraft, Halo, Fallout...

The main problem with the Halo games is that they refused to give Master Chief any character. While in the books he actually is a rather decent character. Reach is still my favorite of the Series.

Lost: Via Domus, followed closely by Katamari! Wow, I hope no one takes that seriously...

Without Mass Effect I'd say it was down to either Halo or Dead Space.

Why would anyone get you?
I consider Halo to be a great game and story for the adolescents.

Mass Effect blows most of them out of the water, but Knights of the Old Republic isn't too bad. I also quite liked Star Trek: 25th Anniversary and Star Trek: Judgement Rites which are two phenomenal adventure games.

And then go play kotor 2, but make sure u get the fan mods that add in the missing content and fix the bugs....kotor 2 really was a great game, a shame lucas arts didnt care about art and allow iit to be finished. Kreia is one of the best characters ive ever seen in a game.

I actually really prefer KOTOR 2's writing as well.  I'm super stoked that Chris Avellone is a part of the Wasteland 2 project!  Kreia is amazing.  As far as I'm concerned pretty much anything MCA touches turns to gold.

It's just unfortunate that the ending seems to be... missing :

I totally agree with you! :D
The way all little 'OMG' moments of Kotor 1 were expanded was brilliant. It's like they knew what fans would love to play, without going over the top with it like the awfull, AWFULL Force Unleashed Games did. They created Dxun, Malachor, a ruined Jedi Enclave, every single planet was pure gold and explained the history Revan and the Jedi out of the perspective of a 'broken' character, who isn't a hero. More a war criminal.

I honestly believe that K2 could've been one of the best games ever made, if Lucasarts had allowed them to do it their own way instead of pushing them to the limit. They also didn't allow them to play K1, so the team had been working the dark for months too.

Not that Kotor 2 as bad, by the way. Bioware basically saved Lucasarts single handedly with it!

:lol::lol::lol:

That made me laugh out so loud, tears are running - it's true. Thank you! :-D
And here I thought I was the only owner of that game - never finished it. Hmm, maybe I should? Maybe it will surprise me. w00t LOL Naah ;-)

Sorry for going off topic.

I have never been into Sci-Fi, but to my big surprise I "fell in love" with Mass Effect.

I tried Halo 3 (probably not the best way to start a game, number 3) and I understood absolutely nothing! But I'll see if I can get into it another time. Not even aware it's a SciFi...

Obsidian. Bioware did KotOR, Obsidian did KotOR2. But yeah, LucasArts pretty much screwed them on that.

Halo?  Dead Space?  Mass Effect?  Today's gamers, I am dissapoint :\\

Metroid was doing sci-fi video game saga's before it was cool.  Metroid, Metroid 2 and Super Metroid (ie Metroid 3) are a trilogy in all but name.  And they pulled off that awesome sense of immersion without about 5 paragraphs of text between the three of them...  Just goes to show how solid gameplay, great visual design and a clear theme for a game is all you need to make an epic game.  If Super Metroid alone isn't in your "Top10 Games of All Time" list, then you're doing it wrong.

Not to forget the Metroid Prime Trilogy either.  Metroid Prime 1 in particular was easily one of the top games for it's vintage (Gamecube/PS2/Xbox era).

KOTOR. Non-ending trumps THAT ending.

KoTOR had an ending... You either brought peace or enslaved the galaxy. No one suspected  Revan would go missing or that there would be a KoTOR2 after that game, it felt complete.

Than they nerfed  Revan in TOR.

I don't really like Halo, played the Halo 2 MP for a long time, but other than that it has mostly been a play and throw away kind of series for me.

Still. if I'm going to be objective about it I have to say Halo 1-3 was better than ME 1-3, even though I vastly prefer ME personally.

No one beats Commander Keen though!, those were good times.

Despite the horrendous ending and the bizzare way Bioware has handled the whole mess, Mass Effect is still the best Sci-fi saga (perhaps even the most emotionally engaging video game series) I've ever played. No other franchise has gotten me as hooked as this. Never before have I felt interested enough in tracking down the novels, the comics and other things carrying the Mass Effect name.

It's still the best damn series I've played. Nothing else has been half as emotionally engaging.

Lexx? ...oh wait, no tv-series.

I always liked the freespace games, not because of epic story but because the flying was fun. Other than that I would recommend kotor, and maybe kotor 2 but you may wish to get the "restoration" mod before you play that.

Kotor has to be my favorite sci-fi game, and was my favorite game in general until I dove headfirst into the masterpiece known as DA:O (Bioware's Sistine Chapel imo).

Series...HALO

Old school...Mega Man 2.
