Stop inviting me to your basement.  I'm not going.

Damn. But really though, new vegas being the worst in the series? lolwut? what about fallout brotherhood of steel? or tactics? those were awful.

Edit: I thought the FO3 plot was complete garbage. Game was fun, but the story was just...awful....

agreed! FO3 was great, the story just sucked. New Vegas was brilliant however. The Storyline made it! Clearly Obsidian IS capable of creating great stories. I think they need already finished engines and textures to allow them the time necessary to properly develop their stories. NWN2 is brilliant. The story is brilliant. Sith Lords... the story is also brilliant... its just not complete (the endings to that however, were spectacular)

Regardless of the ending and the truckload of problems with mass effect, Its still the best sci fi out there, it just makes halo look bad..

New Vegas was just a bad gaming experience.  There is nothing.... nothing more frustrating than walking 2 hours to one stupid location and the system freezing as you enter the building, and the game doesn't save until the interiors of the buildings load.  The plot was "eh".    There was a reason the price dropped to $20 in 4 months.  I'll admit, FO3 was grey in its textures, but the fighting mechanics and the individual sub plots were much better.  The expansions included Aliens.   Your father was Liam freakin' Nieson.  And, what was wrong with Brotherhood of Steel?

I ignored the bugs, played on pc. I thought the plot was brilliant. abso****ely amazing. I think you're trolling if you thought the crappy Fallout: Brotherhood of Steel game for xbox was any good. Also, I don't know how to put this, but you're wrong on all those points you made about FO3. It kinda raped the fallout universe. Thank goodness it was its own self contained rape though.

For some reason bioware felt fit to censor the word absolutely

KOTOR. Non-ending trumps THAT ending.

I played kotor and dont remember the ending....o wait its coming back

The ending to kotor was nothing special...It was nice for its time, but ME2's ending will always be my favorite ending

Me1 also had a great ending

i have a hard time choosing between half life and mass effect. gotta lean towards half life right now though but that could change depending what we get in the extended cut. i like halo, but it's nowhere near half life or mass effect

Mass Effect, even with its ending. Nothing comes close to the atmosphere of Mass Effect. It's the one universe I'd love to live in, minus Reaper conflict and all that.

Look up the definition of sci-fi. Fallout hits all the marks. Saying it's not sci-fi is like sayinmg the entire cyberpunk genre isn't sci-fi. It is, just a different flavor.

From what I've heard: KOTOR

Should I try to find KOTOR, even though it's outdated?

Yes!

And then go play kotor 2, but make sure u get the fan mods that add in the missing content and fix the bugs....kotor 2 really was a great game, a shame lucas arts didnt care about art and allow iit to be finished. Kreia is one of the best characters ive ever seen in a game.

Halo was pretty sweet, up until Bungie stupidly muddied the events that take place in Halo: Reach, f------ up their own god------ continuity.

To say that "KOTOR" now holds the best spot for greatest sci-fi video game is kind of stupid, because KOTOR is part of a much longer video game saga belonging to a multimedia phenomenon called Star Wars.

I would say Mass Effect still takes the cake, because even if the last game was a let down for a wide variety of reasons, the series as a whole is relatively intact. The vast majority of players will tell you that they enjoyed every bit of the series, with the exception of the last five minutes of it.

Don't wanna compare Sci-fi space operas to post-apocalyptic games. The feeling is far too different

But yea, you're right, Fallout is a sci-fi game.

Do you think "troll" means "someone who thinks differently than you" because if so, then yes.... I'm a trolling.  Fallout 3 didn't rape, anything.  It made the game more accessable to a wider audience.   New Vegas was monetarilly hemoraging Bethesda.  Say what you will about what you like and what you don't like..... but please don't be disrespectful of other people's opinions.  It leaves you open to ridicule. And as someone who throws out the term "rape" in such a manner.... there's a lot to ridicule.

Mass Effects a great series up until the final bullet hits Maruader Shields (honor his sacrifice.) I like Science Fiction over all other genres. Right now there is not much out as far as games that is good.

Mass Effect 1 great 2 ok, 3 decent with bad ending and horrid Multiplayer (want guns? Buy more, buy now, consume -thx 1138 )
Star Wars is enjoyable still if you read the novels in my opinion. Games are hit or miss for Star Wars because it costs so much to just buy rights to the IP. SWTOR was good through 50 but even with this 1.2 update it is limited. I never played Kotor and feel I missed out. I cant sit through the graphics this late in the game.

Gears of War - I guess if you like that sort of thing, dont have an XBOX 360 so I just played 1 on PC and thought it had a neat story but boring gameplay. Devent option here if you dont mind simple gameplay even beyond the simplicity that Bioware is going with recent Series (Dragon Age 10 year old UI, ME 2 and 3 removal of highly customized play and gear.)

Space Marine - Great tongue in cheek gameplay with a decent story if you like Warhammer 40k which is originally a Miniature Table Top wargame. The multiplayer is fun, weapon challenges are good too. I pop in and play some once or twice a month. Jump Jets are the bomb.

Dawn of War 2 - Another 40k game but I am not a fan of the RTS style because it totally goes against the table top game, nothing like it and its basically Warcraft 3 but you never build an army, its just hero figure in a RTS with squads and gameplay that do not match the Universe or Story.

Deus Ex Human Revolution - good game but really short. Really good cinematics and interesting enough game play and challenges. Play first without doing extra bonus challenges and just having fun, then try missions with bonus objectives or trying to be utterly silent. Good DLC too that is worth it.

Prototype - Good game if simple for the first one.

Protoype 2 - out in 10 days or so, looks good for simple action. Story line is not bad, but its not epic. If you like sandbox and exploration mixed with action this should be a decent game that will take a couple weeks to complete everything.

These are games I experienced. There are a lot out there for SciFi but nothing like ME1 and nothing really sandbox with Space Exploration except some Indie games on Steam. I try one once in a while on Steam but nothing really sticks out.

Hopefully other developers see the vacuum and put some good development and good execution into another good SciFi series soon.
