I ignored the bugs, played on pc. I thought the plot was brilliant. abso****ely amazing. I think you're trolling if you thought the crappy Fallout: Brotherhood of Steel game for xbox was any good. Also, I don't know how to put this, but you're wrong on all those points you made about FO3. It kinda raped the fallout universe. Thank goodness it was its own self contained rape though.

----------------

Do you think "troll" means "someone who thinks differently than you" because if so, then yes.... I'm a trolling.  Fallout 3 didn't rape, anything.  It made the game more accessable to a wider audience.   New Vegas was monetarilly hemoraging Bethesda.  Say what you will about what you like and what you don't like..... but please don't be disrespectful of other people's opinions.  It leaves you open to ridicule. And as someone who throws out the term "rape" in such a manner.... there's a lot to ridicule.

Do you even know what game I'm talking about? Fallout:Brotherhood of Steel is a completely different game then fallout 3. And I apologize, I should have used the word violated apposed to rape. I don't mean your different opinion is trolling, but to date I've never met anyone who said they enjoyed that game that wasn't kidding. Making a game accesible to a wider audience is not always a good thing. As much as I'm loathe to say this, but it often violates artistic integrity. And yes, fallout 3 it did defile canon. I'm not saying it wasn't a good game(infact I loved it) but it had a mediocre plot that's been done before, storytelling is not bethesda's strong point . Also, I'm pretty sure fallo9ut new vegas has turned a tidy profit at this point.

Halo, undoubtedly if you include the novels. Alien design is awesome because you have the manipulating Prophets, the militaristic Sangheli, the poetic but deadly Lekgolo, the Hugorak who at first appear to be nothing to but Engineers but have deep connections to one another. The Unggoy stupid, but deeper than you'd think.
And Humans are not the strongest. That is my favorite part, even after being in space for hundreds of years they do not own the stars, not even close.
Mass Effect
Humans a Council Race by in under a hundred years.
Don't get me wrong I love the races of Mass Effect, but they are a bit too weak. I mean come on the Council has been around 3,000 years...As long as the Covenant. They should be miles away from humanity in technology. Yes Humans have superior ingenuity, but not to that degree.

From what I've played: Mass Effect
From what I've heard: KOTOR

Should I try to find KOTOR, even though it's outdated?

Yes!

Agreed, if you're the type of person who values gameplay and story over graphics it's well worth a look.

Like everyone else has said, yes, Kotor is a great game, and its graphics are not terrible even by todays standards if you care about them.

Don't think I can choose one:

-X-Wing / Tie-Fighter series of games, those were my child hood.

-Half Life series: C'mon, it's Half Life!

-Fallout series: Always loved the retro futuristic look.

-Starcraft: I remember reading the manual with all the backstory every day when I was a kid lol

-KOTOR gets honorary mention, but I've only played the first one.

For KOTOR 2, Mods are important

You will want to get TSLRCM (The Sith Lords Restored Content Mod) from http://deadlystream....forum/4-tslrcm/ Best to wait for the 1.8 version to come out (yes, it is still being updated).
And you can get the official Movies and Music patches http://knightsoftheo...es/Patches;8180

Halo, because when you go beyond the videogames, the universe which Bungie has created is actually incredibly deep and well thought out. Hell i'm not even that big of a fan of the Halo trilogy, its everything else that sucks me in.

Hmm... greatest sci fi saga... kind of a loaded question...

Halo was brilliant in the novels but pretty poor in the games.

For games, overall... I'd probably have to say Metal Gear Solid.

Mass Effect and KOTOR are some of the best Sci-Fi games that have been made, even if the ending of ME3 jumped the shark.

Starcraft isn't that original, it is pretty much a direct ripoff of Warhammer 40K. They just changed the Eldar into Protoss. Was still a fun game. Too bad they crapped all over their own lore when they released SC2.

Fallout 1, 2 and tactics were awesome. But they are more post apocalyptic than sci-fi.

X-Com was also another awesome game.

There's a bunch of excellent older games as well, like Star Control. Don't know how well they aged though. The graphics and interface/controls might be a huge hurdle for modern gamers.

Definitely Halo. It's got very rich lore and a good core storyline. I'm interested to see where the series goes with the 4th installment.

Homeworld series, X series by Egosoft, Haegemonia Legions of Iron<< this game is so rare and so unknown but it was pure awesomeness and had a huge potential, you should check it out if you can find it anywhere.

Well, if you include the ending...

Still Mass Effect, actually. I haven't played some of the games mentioned here, but overall Mass Effect has great story, characters, and game play. Really, for me it is all about story. Yeah, the ending left me feeling like I had just watched a baby seal get clubbed with a claw hammer, but even an ending so bad I don't think I could make it worse if I tried can't erase 100 hours of edge of my seat game play with diverging stories and plots. 200 hours, since I had two profiles. Hell, if Mass Effect was a so-so series then I wouldn't care about the ending so much.

I played KOTOR, and KOTOR 1 still has the greatest ending in the history of ever but it fell apart on 2 and since we are judging the series as a whole, I still have to give the edge to Mass Effect.

Side note, if you haven't played KOTOR do so. Games like that will stand the test of time forever.

Mass Effect

That being said, Halo will always have a special place in my heart. It was the first shooter I really got into and probably the game of my childhood. I still remember the Flood reveal. The first time a game really freaked me out, and this is coming from someone who played Resident Evil and Silent Hill (well, watched my grandfather play Silent Hill) as a kid. It's just how "out of nowhere" it was
That, and I was around 10 at the time.

Also, the books were pretty good

And a thousand times this ^^

I still hate whoever decided to ditch KOTOR 3 for a damn MMO with a passion...

See if you can find a copy of Blade Runner the video game, and then get it working on a modern system. Very good game.

Also, still Mass Effect! Mine hasn't crapped out, just cos the last 5 minutes of the third game is disappointing. Still an incredible trilogy.

EVE Online's true story is in the players. We make the lore. Starcraft on the other hand is one of those immutable science fiction staples. Neither truly BEATS Mass Effect but I'll take the enjoyable yet unfulfilling Starcraft or the twisted and backstabbing EVE Online over RGB.

I can't really decide for me its either Halo or ME... then again maybe AvP. I just really like the background and history behind the worlds for these games. Then theres WH40K but its a tad too grim for me.
Despite the horrendous ending I still like ME3 world.

Starwars I never considered it sci fi... more like space fantasy
