I put ME on the same level as Star Wars - SW was perfect until Ewoks showed up, and you can say the same about ME and God Brat.

Should I try to find KOTOR, even though it's outdated?
Yes!
It's on steam, and while the horrible graphics and outdated combat system take a little getting used to, once you adjust, it really is a fantastic game.

Until there is another game in space but only better and different to Mass effect and is a RPG, then I won't be happy.

Dude, you should go play KOTOR. Its a true Bioware masterpiece in my opinion, it has the best storyline you'll ever experience within the Star Wars universe.Allan Schumacher wrote...

However, requiring I get the books, outside franchise games, and other things to get the halo universe story is a pretty big let down.
oh well, that's what youtube and wiki's are for I guess. I'll check it out and see if it clicks the way mass effect did.

Funny thing, all three of those maintained the same basic things through all of them and they were awesome.
I think Mass Effect suffered too much of an identiy crisis and kept shifting what it wanted to be between the three games, in the end, it lost what made it special.

Fallout.
Fallout never really had that deep of a storyline. But then again, Mass effect isn't the RPG that Fallout is either.

I need to ask YOU something Alan and I need to know this and not some PR BS (I honestly have gotten enough of that, not from Bioware though but some other company)
Does EA actually affect anything with the games created by Bioware?
I loved Mass Effect 1 and Dragon Age Origins (I have all the DLC for both series, excluding DA2 might get those if there is an Ultimate Edition like DAO)
Many things were changed in ME2 from ME1 and DA2 from DAO that just seemed (not saying it was just it is hard to see things from the dev side when I am not a dev) if there was another year involved in the making of it then it would have turned out significantly better.
I mean that in Mass Effect 2 instead of fixing the problems with the inventory system and vehicle exploration they were just removed completely (with the latter being added back in a small way via DLC) and DA2 had many bugs at launch (including the Witch Hunt plot flag that was never fixed, and wasn't there a patch in DAO that autosaved after your choice just for DA2?)
So, to reitterate, does EA affect anything with the development of games as even other companies seem to change after being purchased by EA. Not trying to sound rude or anything, just curious since there are always rumors but I just want to learn the facts.

On topic though:
For the Sci-Fi Genre, I have been with Halo for a long time (longer than Mass Effect) so I got to say that would be number one, than Mass Effect's (as a whole not just picking on the ending and a few bit of cliches) and then Dead Space's.

That is heaven for someone like me... uhh.. y'know.. because its.. umm.. interesting...
I like what little mythos we've seen of Dead Space, even though I wouldn't like living in a universe on the verge of a nightmarish cluster**** of mutated corpses who get their kicks by mutilating everything in sight, I imagined what the Sprawl was like BEFORE the Necromorph fiasco. Its even possible for something like that to happen in the Mass Effect universe if you think about it, so many different stories in all three ME games happen outside of Shepard's. Imagine being one of the scientists on Luna during the Rogue VI mission, or the crew on the "ghost ship" mission in ME1, stuff like that.
Star Wars is a given lore wise, but I had a really strange love for PodRacer, I LOVED that ****! Star Wars: Bounty Hunter is in my top ten as well, dunno why, I guess I just liked the pseudo sandbox aspect of it, Coruscant in that game was amazing. I'm still not sure what universe I'd want to live in between Mass Effect and Star Wars, being a freighter captain Han Solo style in Star Wars is calling me...
