I just dont see how people can honestly be against having the option to NOT have Liara as a squadmate?

The option not to have her as a squadmate in ME3 seems like a no brainer

I thought for a while that I'd have the option to permanently ground her near the Catalyst. She has better things to do than tool around with Shepard through space, and since BioWare seems to make her so hellbent on being a Prothean Expert AND the Shadow Broker, better to get her somewhere safer than the shenanigans Shepard gets up to.

Then we also should have had the option to not have Garrus in ME and Tali in ME.

Kill them off in ME2.

So much went wrong. All at the same time. If it went wrong at the start or middle, they could've saved it. But no, its too late now, they've destroyed Mass Effect's Story. The gameplay is still outstanding though. Replaying ME1 or ME2 is always a viable option! Not to mention the Multiplayer and Free DLC. I'm starting to forget about this whole ending problem. Oh yeah the endi-- *Assuming Direct Control* I love EA and want to give them ALL my money! La, la, la *Skips off happily into the sunset*
Seriously though. Bioware ran out of Money and Time, thats why the ending sucked, thats why Kai Leng Sucked, thats why this whole Starchild business was thrown in there.
Anytime Bioware should respond with "We're sorry, we screwed up because of money and time restraints" They respond with their god damn "Artistic Integrity" News Flash Bioware, the game is as much ours as it is yours. Your Artistic Integrity means squat against OUR satisfaction. Whats a company without its consumers? Nothing

You actually have the option to not recruit Garrus at all, I believe. I'm not sure about Tali though.

The Wife and I both noticed the bias towards Liara as well, it's pretty blatant and should not of happened. But that is what you get when writers play favorites and write the game more for their taste instead of the fans.... *cough* star child.

I fixed the qoute, I ment Garrus in ME2. You are always forced to have Tali join you in ME, even if you say no Udina will put her on your squad and you can't argue.

Tali is forced on you by Udina iirc, I tried to not bring her with me once.

You have to have either Garrus or Wrex, which honestly baffled me, since I thought they'd give you the option of more... uh, racist Shepard. I'm guessing it was to ensure you had one 'tank' character if Ashley died.

I don't care if Liara is a writers pet, she is still my fav character in the series

True, anyone who's a fan of her just wants to see more of her, but someone who isn't really into Liara/doesn't care about her just thinks:

"Why the **** is she always there, can't Tali or Wrex come hold my hand?'

I completely agree with you. I am tired of Liara getting the spotlight or being forced on my Shepard. I am not interested in her.  We know the VS gets hardly any scenes compared with Liara. There is thread going around about the “I want blue babies” stuff in the extended dlc; but I personally want a “family thread” instead of blue babies. Laira is not the only romance out there.

That's at the very end of ME2 so you're still stuck with Tali for two games, just like Liara.

Uh you do know you can not get peace between the Geth and Quarians without Tali right? Thus I have to make a choice I refuse to make, thus I am screwed over, and as I mentinoed so many times Garrus was awesome in ME3, at last waiting for him to become intresting paid off. Still would have wished not to recruit him in ME2 like I could in ME if I wanted.

I love the fact that Udina was the one that actually choose Shepard as a Spectre canidate, made him take along an ally that proved useful in the future, gave him the Normandy. Eventually, it was Shepard who shot Udina. Guess Udina couldn't plan for that.

True but it makes sense in a way.  Wrex or Garrus are the only two that will get you to Tali and the data that proves Saren is dirty.  I DO think you should have the option of not taking Tali and Udina forcing her on you seems a little strange given his attitude towards non-human in general and Quarians in particular.  As for Wrex or Garrus, they are important assets.  Frankly I think a racist Shep would prefer Wrex (who is pretty renegade most of the game btw at least in ME1) since Wrex is a merc with a good reputation which means he stays bought (and as Joker would say in ME2....as long as it's not my money we're good....)
