You talked about an option not to have them, I gave you one.

Ya, an option that screws me over later.

... how? They're not important to the plot.

Uh you do know you can not get peace between the Geth and Quarians without Tali right? Thus I have to make a choice I refuse to make, thus I am screwed over, and as I mentinoed so many times Garrus was awesome in ME3, at last waiting for him to become intresting paid off. Still would have wished not to recruit him in ME2 like I could in ME if I wanted.

All right, I'll give you that one.

I also agree that forced friendships with Garrus and Tali do get annoying. As it is with Liara.

see AN OPTION, those who dont like Liara have NO OPTION, which is the problem

And those who don't like Jame have NO OPTION. Those who don't like EDI have NO OPTION either.

Also don't forget the fact femshep is forced to flirt with James. You don't with Liara.

Which means that choices have consequences, but you DO have the choice.

yes I agree with you on many points, for me the game took a nose dive from the final battle with Kai Leng to the ending.

Hearing about this unknown character (I only play the games don't care about the books) from Anderson words that he was worst then the Reapers.... was probably the single most idiotic line of dialog in the entire trilogy... fighting him made me feel I was transported into a MGS game from the 90s I immediately lowered the difficulty level to narrative only and proceeded to purge his existence from my mind.... little I knew at the time what I was about to experience next....

Yes, from Reaper Man.

Back on topic...

Sorry, didn't mean to derail. I just remember seeing that in the book several months ago and realizing I had seen it here.

But, on topic, I personally feel the whole Liara thing is a bit much. Though I did like her in ME3.

The Wife and I both noticed the bias towards Liara as well, it's pretty blatant and should not of happened. But that is what you get when writers play favorites and write the game more for their taste instead of the fans.... *cough* star child.

I believe that the introduction of Liara was actually due to the writers listened to their fans. Afterall, in ME1 she was the top candidate for romance for various femsheps.

The option not to have her as a squadmate in ME3 seems like a no brainer

Then we also should have had the option to not have Garrus in ME and Tali in ME.

Kill them off in ME2.

And miss out on fantastic character dev or the fact I can't get peace between teh Geth and Quarians? Uh no, that's just plain stupid.

You talked about an option not to have them, I gave you one.

That's at the very end of ME2 so you're still stuck with Tali for two games, just like Liara.

as others have said, you can skip Tali in mE2

Hey I'm not saying I don't agree. I wish we all could get what we want and have things forced down our throats. Like Garrus not bugging you alot, Liara does not but I know it bugs others. My issue is when people make large rants and ignore peopel like Garrus, Tali and Joker which are three characters I am forced with or I get screwed over. Do i wish Bioware did better with handling Liara for non fans? Yes, do I think she should have died during the game? Hey if you don't want her then kill her but it should have issues later like letting say Tali die. I think we can agree Bioware could have handled Liara better for people who don't like her.

You need her barrier upgrade or a person will die in the engine room. This has been proven and there is videos of it.

... right! Kasumi died, I just forgot. Ok, sorry about that, I was wrong. XD
Still it's nice to have a choice. Even a dumb choice.

FORCED??? You dont NEED either of them.

If I want to make sure everyone lives? yes I do. If I want peace between the Geth and Quarians? Yes I need Tali. I have to have Garrus(no matter what in fact) and Tali in ME2 so no one dies. I also need Tali alive and loyal so I can get peace. So yes I'm forced to have two characters in a game I don't like. The pay off is good but it does not change the fact is I had to have them or I would not enjoy ME3 that much.

The game is about choice, there should have been a choice to not bring LIara, hell attach a negative consequence to it if you want, but there should be choice.

Making choices means dramatic consequences. And that's actually a good thing IMO.

So? I usually pick the Quarians over peace even when I have Tali and Legion alive. (Geth have tried to kill my Shep for how long?!)

Im not sure this is sinking in for you... choice is all that is wanted.

James: I don't know, I aint no Prothean
EDI: It seems we would need an asari.
James: So let's grab one
EDI: That won't work, it needs an asari who knows how to unlock goverment buildings, knows theirs codes ect, someone liek Liara T'Soni
James: Good going Commander, you just screwed us over.

The game (for better or worse) doesn't really let you drop party members voluntarily.  So I'm just curious, are you suggesting that there should have been a way to kill off Liara for any of the fans that didn't like her?
