Sign here if hate when you get a new codex entry and you cant see where its at on the list because its too low and goes below the line of sight and you miss the shimmering of it and it completely messes up where its at and you have to read them one by one

solution.  Patch it so that shimmer lasts 10 seconds so you can see which entries are new.

:o

LdyShayna Edit: Please keep your subject lines more concise.  Thanks!

Only I would say a better solution is to scroll when one line above the bottom entry rather than when on the bottom entry, if you know what I mean.

Man I love reading the codex. Just don't do it all at once.   Everytime you win a battle take a minute to read a codex.

Always read the following codex:

- Quest Related (know your objectives in detail)
- Characters (know your friends)
- Creatures (know your enemy)

I love the codex. its the best thing about the game. A whole novel just right there to read. Sometimes I have codes days where I just read.

Ahah, this happens to me too!! And boys is it difficult to find the entry I am looking for, then!! XD I still don't know if it's the codex journal that is very confusing, or if it's me that I'm not able to understand its logic.

And in some cases you talk to a character and he gives you an item he doesn't mention the name of. On screen it just says:"item collected", but it's close to impossible to know which item it is due to the listing issue. :/

Except of this, the game is superb!! =)

Is this a console issue? I play on the PC and don't have a problem with the shimmer disappearing. If I haven't read a codex entry, the shimmer stays until I click on the entry in the codex.

Yeah this ones is on 360. Might not be this way on pc. But when you scroll down it will take off the shimmer off the new entries.. but as go down you can never really see which ones are shimmering before it dissapears.

Since you have to go to the bottom of the list before it starts scolling down, it disengages the shimmer when you highlight it of course but you never see it shimmer at all so dont know if you're looking at a new entry or not.

Everytime I get one I just pray its one of the first 10 or so entries so you know its a new one

Yeah, this is one of the places you feel that the game might be better adjusted to the PC. I'm playing the PS3 version, so it's probably a console issue...

Ugh, that sucks for you console guys. Only thing I can think of offhand (and it would be a pain in the backside), would be to record on paper the codex number of each entry you've read. then you just have to find the new number when you open the codex. Huge pain though.

One small problem with codex entries is that the shimmering square is only slightly darker than the codex book background, which makes the unread codices hard to see sometimes.

On PC you have a similar timing problem with the floating text in some places, which disappears within a second or so. I remember I had to click on a certain doll 6 or 7 times before I could read the entire floating text line by line.

Love the lore of this game and the codex issues really annoy me. A fix shouldn't be that hard to apply in a future patch should it?

It would be cool if the entries could have a title instead of a number ... it is a pain, sometimes, to find an specific entry when you have filled most of the boxes and may be wanting to read it again for whatever reason.

I love the game and all.. its just a mildly irritating thing. I just make sure that every time I get a codex is to read it right then and now. Dont let them stack up. buuuuut if someone at Bioware is looking for little things to fix one day.......

Oh my GOD, I hate it so much, I'm glad someone else has mentioned it! Sometimes you can't read it right there and then because you may get a few at a time, or you may get one at a time when you can't open the codex, but bloody hell, it is infuriating!

Oh and it also happens with new items - you receive a new item but you can't bloody find out what it IS because by the time you've scrolled down to it the little yellow box signifying 'new item' will have been deselected. GRRRR.

When you recieve a new item and you don't know what the item is, immediately go into your inventory, with "All Non Plot Items" viewable.  Then at the top right of the inventory menu there is a drop down box that allows you to sort items.  Select "Sort by newest" and the item at the top of the list will be the item you most recently recieved - most likely the quest reward or whatever.

The codex implementation seems like it looked great on paper but in game it really nees some updating. A number doesn't give me a ny idea what the topic is about and sometimes I have to click through 30 entriles to find the one I'm looking for. What we need is another part of the journal which lists titles and codex numbers so I can look for a number based on a title.

How about this: when a quest requires reading of a codex entry put a link to it directly in the quest tab instead of making players look for it.

If it's a console issue it would have made more sense to post it in the appropriate console forum I would think.

You're not alone. As far as I know there is no such option on the consoles.

There are some things that did not transfer well from the pc to the consoles and this is definitely one of those things.

they could also fix this if they made so your highlighted codex is always just one above the lowest on screen. That way you could see if the next codex is highlighted. Yes this bugs me a lot. I've actually put off reading the codex during quests because it gets pretty hectic to look for which codexes are new, or which were updated since the last time. Character codexes are the worst in this case. Sometimes you can hit back and go right to it but when you get a "quest completed" and a "new codex entry" at the same time it always takes you to the quest log and therefore you have to dig for the new codex entry.
