I agree! I have the 360 version and when I find a new codex, I HATE going to the screen and I can't scroll down on the left side without highlighting every codex and not knowing for sure which codex is the new one! Yuck!

Yes this is a console issue, 360 and PS3. Please fix it it makes reading codex very laborious.

Totally agree with that. Big, big annoyance. I read all the codices and this is a very big annoyance. By the time I get to the point in my PC play-through I hope it's patched.

Speaking of Codex entries, does anyone know if they are being put online somewhere, like on a wiki or something? I'd love to read them all without loading the game (because if I do, I just end up playing for hours, I pawned off my Dragon Age disc to my husband in attempts to break my addiction to the game).
Also, not related to codexes, but sort of related: you know when you get a new codex entry or item and you can click on the little bar at the bottom of the screen to be taken to it (only shows up for a few seconds), well, has anyone else noticed that if it is an item, it takes you to your inventory but doesn't TELL you which item you just picked up? I have found that a little annoying sometimes, I wish the yellow shimmer box would highlight the item the way it does with codex entries that are new.
And kudos on the longest forum title of all time, I may have to screenshot that

It doesn't tell you specifically, but all new items have a yellow box around them. When you click the item, the box goes away - so if your inventory is 'clear' of new items, and you pick one up, it will be the only one with a yellow box around it. Hope this helps

Hmm haven't seen the boxy thing, but maybe I am just bugged. Good to know it DOES work that way though for everyone else.

It's a yellow box around the little item picture. Easy to miss and I haven't seen it documented anywhere, I just kind of stumbled upon it.

On PC, you can click on the codex entry after the splash image fades and while the note is still hovering on the bottom left. Doing so will take you directly to the new codex entry.

God this was driving me crazy too. I like to read all the codex entries while in camp - figure that's a good time to catch up on everything. Its frustrating not being able to tell the unread entries sometimes, let alone whenever something is added to an existing entry. The codex in Mass Effect kept new entries highlighted until you clicked on them so maybe something like that can be patched in somehow?

I will go one step further and simply propose the entire GUI be thrown out and redone.
All the way from the inventory system that makes me scroll endlessly to find things to the hidden codexes to no hook data for the targetted enemy to the lack of camera controls to the lack of details on, well... everything.
Still a great game, even with the barely usable interface.
