Wow, with fans THIS spiteful....

Personally, I think it does deserve the title. Why?

I LOVED the writing for one. Rannoch, Curing The Genophage, Shepard's psychological breakdown...

The score is mesmerizing.

The characters were much more fleshed out than in I and II.

The combat system kicks ass.

I only encountered one bug (Stuck on the bridge after talking to EDI), No Import bugs whatsoever.

To me, the whole first time of playing through ME3 was an emotional rollercoaster I won't soon forget.

As for other contenders...Diablo III...eh, not my kind of game. Same for AC3.

If the EC polishes up the endings and adds cut stuff, it'll be my game of the decade.

But this thread is all about screaming "NOOOOOOOOO!". So keep doing that, Bioware "fans".:crying:

I think it was more than good enough for GOTY. The ending can be overlooked

No. It requires being spiteful, vicious and destructive.

Again, whoever has "fans" like this doesn't need enemies.

If anyone is being spiteful here I would say its you.

It would be in my eyes, if the other games this year were as good but no better than the last year's games. That is, until the last 15 minutes. As it stands now, the ending drags it down too much - but then again, it's the reviewers that decide it. It's possible they will say it's worth it because they see nothing wrong with ending the game on such cosmically idiotic note.

Man...it could be a contender. But, I actually am gonna say I think BioShock Infinite and Dishonored might claim it instead. Two games, not yet released, but are doing incredibly different things in the gaming industry right now.

Even it it had a decent ending, no. It felt too rushed overall. Could have used at least another couple months to polish up and make truly incredible. Alas, EA and their 2 year development cycles...

Yeah, it should be. Yes, the ending sucks and false advertising and all that, but ME3 had some of the best character writing that I've seen in anything, let alone a video game (plus the Tuchanka mission alone deserves it tbqh)

Being a fan of something only means you're more invested in it than the regular audience. You don't just like it, you love it - but you also don't just dislike it when it goes wrong, you hate it . I honestly don't get why people keep thinking that once you become a fan of something you immidiately loose the ability to be critical about it. "Fan" is derived from "fanatical", and "fanatical" in no way means "ever-loving".

There is a difference between being critical and constructive vs. spite-hateful and destructive.

Ever loving? No. But you CAN be critical as well as supportive.

Regardless of our position we all can agree on one thing, and that is that GOTY is only possible if no other game surpass it, certainly of the games released on the First Quarter only 1 or 2 could even hope to fight Mass Effect 3 for GOTY, but the problem is that far more games are coming this year, and ME3 didn't set the bar too high.

Well, it'll certainly be the game everyone talks about this year.

Nope, it was never finished. If you go to a 5 star restaurant and have a terrific meal, but then the waiter spits on your dessert... kinda ruins the whole experience.

IF they fix the ending and Tali's face then yes I think it's a contender....it still won't be as good as ME1 or ME2 though.

That would take alot more work.

It really doesn't matter what I think except for the user choice awards.

EA has spent so much on adverts, and so much capitol on the anti-anti-ending campaign that it will get at the very least runner up in several catagories.

They could have released a product that crashed every 20 minutes and it would be just blown off as something a minority of players had issues with......wait, PS3 owners, doesn't damn near do that for your version anyway?

As far as I'm concerned. I think Bioware gave EA the golden Shlt award.

I think it will be GOTY. I see no other games down the pipeline that despite ME3's flaws I personally will enjoy more

I'll repeat  - "real fans" actually the first group to act hateful when the universe they care about gets ruined. As for the "constructive vs spiteful", mods here actually close the latter on a fairly regular basis. Whatever they leave open is considered appropriate enough by Bioware themselves. There's been tons of constructive feedback on the subject either way, the fact it's not even being adressed directly is why people get less constructive and agreeable as time goes by.

I suspect "Max Payne 3" actually has a fair chance at getting its fair share of GOTY titles. Rockstar has got good track record so far.

No. And that's not just because of the ending. This game just doesn't do anything new. In fact, I would say it does less than what Mass Effect 2 did. Why would we award the title to game of the year to a product that has less features than the previous installment?

As for waiting for the Extended Cut, I don't think that's appropriate. A GOTY award should be given to a game that's able to stand on it's own without DLC or extended endings.

I agree with that. I used to love Max Payne and am glad it's finally back. However I ultimantely think that ME3 will win the majority of GOTY awards
