These awards are stupid.

And Grand Theft Auto V will win it if the game really is released on October.

Gah, I sort of hope not.

I thought the PS2 incarnations of GTA were immense but I couldn't believe IV won it - felt like a step BACKWARDS from SA to be honest.

Story-wise, I would definitely agree with you. But the overall immenseness of the Liberty City world was spectacular.

So far, ME3 is the GOTY for me. Even with the unfinished/broken ending. There's just so much good in it. I just can't replay it yet, knowing nothing I did matters in any way at the end.

I'm planning to buy Witcher2 for X360, so there will probably be one challenger. It'll be a pretty good year, I'm sure.

ME3 is absolutely flawless up until the end but if that ending doesn't get propperly fixed then Witcher 2 will be far more deserving of GOTY.....and speaking of Witcher 2 I can't wait to get my hands on the Dark Edition I have preordered.

No, lol. It has plenty of flaws. None of them are particularly devastating, however, but it has plenty of flaws.

No. Even before the horror that is the ending, ME3 was not perfect nor deserving of a GOTY.

Its a contendor... if you forget about the ending.... but still lots of games coming out (currently, ME3 is the highest rated game this year)

I think Bioshock infinite will win..

But there are still a lot more games to come

Seriously... if people got over the ending... the game was 99% incredible. Minus the ending... but still lots of games coming out especially in October

Ac3, Bioshock Infinite, RE6,

The BSN is actually depressing, no one is celebrating the game, just upset and saying it does not deserve GOTY over the ending. So far it is the best game I played this year, but I think Bioshock Infinite or AC3 will take the crown this year. The Last of Us will take it in 2013.

I'll give it a vote to be on the Worst Game Endings of all time list.

Absolutely no way.

If this wins any GOTY awards it will only confirm my suspicions that all "major" game review sites are paid off by the big publishers.

I can't comprehend how any reviewer could have played through the entire game and given it a 10/10 (or any equivalent), unless they weren't fans of Mass Effect before this game.

I would have given it around 8/10 before the end sequence, and I honestly drop the single player, in total, to around 4/10 or so, at best.  It's fun to play through, until the end.

The multiplayer is around 8/10 (only real major drawback is the RNG nature of the packs).

It isn't just the ending. It's the lack of missions that aren't scanning planets, it's the auto dialogue, it's the glitches and bugs. There is more to it than just the ending that would hold it back.

No. ME3 had great potential and could've been a guaranteed GOTY like Skyrim, but someone just had to be all "artistic integrity." For shame, guy-- for shame.

Ac3, Bioshock Infinite, RE6,

Compared to ME2 ME3 is actually two decently written quests and nothing else. It's basically a game roughly the size of just ME2's DLC, and significantly lacks in even the level of choice you got in DA2. Yes those two quests were fulfilling, the other two thirds of the game were actually painful if for no other reason than the lack of effort that went into them in comparison to previous games in the same series. Putting aside the absurd amount of bugs in the game itself and the unplayable multiplayer for multiple classes(see Vanguard float off the map for being a vanguard bug).

Hell, everyone's favorite punching bag, Gears of War 3, actually offered you more story and that game was a Shooter that's largely driven as a mutiplayer game not an RPG. If this gets game of the year in anything other than anticipation(and Diablo 3 will probably deserve that title too) and disappointment someone got paid to put it there.

unfortunately, no.

1. It's only April... we still have another 8 months.
2. The ending.
3. The backlash.
4. Witcher 2, Diablo III, Assassin's Creed, Bioshock Infinate.... etc.
5. Shady release practices.

All the people putting forward Witcher 2 as GotY: sorry, that game is not eligible. It was originally released in May 2011 for the PC. An enhanced port on another console in a different year does not mean it's qualified for GotY. Last year Metal Gear Solid 2 and 3 received an HD remake on PS3 and 360, but you didn't see it get any GotY awards, did you?

That having been said, no, ME3 likely won't get GotY, at least not from any fan-voted methods, due to the bad taste many have had from the game's ending. My personal pick is Assassin's Creed 3, Halo 4, or Bioshock Infinite.

No, the whole thing felt rushed, not just the ending. Example, the DA2 style retrieve "quests."

And the beginning.

Also, I agree with you.

Before March 6th 2012. When I was just watching the trailers and  keeping up to date with the progress of the development of the game.I was of the opinion that Mass Effect 3 could be considered to be the Best Game of the Decade. Not just one year. It seemed as though it had such potential. To be a game that other future game developers would study and learn from and aspire to live up to.

As it stands right now--I don't even think that ME3 deserves a nomination in the GOTY Category. <_<
