Hell no. It was badly rushed and the ending is a non sequitur.

No way no how. That will go to Bioshock Infinte, The Witcher 2, The Last of Us, Halo 4 is even a possibility but not Mass Effect 3: The Unfinished Edition.

GOTY? No. It could win in other categories though like best soundtrack or best voice actress.

Yes.

You know, I used to come to BSN because it was the one gaming forum on the internet where people were generally happy and optimistic posters. Now, look at all of you... So depressing.

In it's current state? Definitely not. The ending was a punch to the face, and after attempting to recover from that, I've noticed a lot of other flaws, too - the writing is fantastic, for the most part, but for supposedly being an RPG, they went a little too far trying to streamline things - there's only a handful of side missions that aren't just fetch quests. There are other things, too, like the face import problems, that weren't fixed by a patch designed to fix them; but honestly? I could let everything else go, if it hadn't been for the ending. If they can somehow redeem that, then... I'm still not sure I'd be willing to call it "Game of the Year," but they might at least be able to win back a little bit of my respect.

At present, my bets for GOTY are Assassin's Creed III and Borderlands 2.

Rage has consumed a big part of the posters on here, for sure.

NO. Even if you ignore the endings, there is a lot more that is wrong with the final installment of the trilogy, speaking about more than just errors in lore. So many things, that should have unquestionably gone right, in this game, just... Didn't. Even the multiplayer, which I will admit I thoroughly enjoy, still leaves a bit to be desired.

As it stands now, no.

If we get a good ending, then we can re-evaluate.

We've still got Hitman, Max Payne, Bioshock, Farcry etc. to come out.... Plus its ending doesn't help

Even if the ending was fixed, definitely not. Why?

1.) Face import still doesn't work after patches.
2.) You need MP to get the best ending despite BioWare's statements to the contrary.
3.) It is easily the weakest game in the series. (It actually pains me to say that, because there are moments in the Genophage and Rannoch arcs that are among my favorites in the trilogy.)

i had hoped that they were gonna launch dlc around bioshock time or 7 months from launch to get back in the press and news with a real ending after shep woke from that blast

that would have won it some awards.
Bioshock to me looks meh...the underwater and setting made the original great i don't get anything from the new one. looks stupid

Its certainly got a chance, lack of proper side-quests and controversial ending considered.
But its still too early to say. Assassin's Creed III isn't out yet :P

I think it depends on two things, 1: how well they pull off the extended cut, and 2: the little amount of challenge it will probably have.

Personally I don't think the ending would screw them out of it, but the extended cut will probably help it as long as they don't botch it, it's still the best game I have ever played despite the disappointment.

Also from what I have seen its not going to have a ton of competition like the 2011 GOTY. The only 2 games I see posing a challenge are Diablo 3 and Resident Evil 6.

I don't know enough about Diablo to argue mass effect against it but I do know plenty about resident evil 6. I think resident evils story will definitely give mass effect quite a challenge but due to how mass effect allows you to play how you want to in a not so linear way coupled with the multiplayer that is definitely better than resident evils mercenaries mode there isn't a doubt in my mind that mass effect can beat it unless bioware digs themselves deeper with the extended cut.

I think mass effect will get game of the year, to this day I have never played a game where I feel blown away every second of playing even a month after.

ABSOLUTELY NOT. Mass Effect 3, story wise, is one of THE worst games in the last decade. No way in hell should it get GotY. And, if it does, it'd be on multiplayer, which, as fun as it is, is NOT enough to beat out games that don't suck. When I beat Mass Effect 1, I immediately replayed it... several times. When I beat Mass Effect 2, I immediately replayed it... several times. I beat Mass Effect 3, watched the other 2 endings on YouTube HOPING to get the foul taste out of my mouth and figured I'd probably never play it again. Since that time I've been playing the multiplayer, which is admittedly very fun, but once I lose interest in that... ME3 is done for me. If this game gets GotY, I will literally throw up, even if that means pulling the trigger. Biggest let down of the century.

or the fact that it started an entire movement, and has been killed by non videogaming magazines, and news eg bbb, forbes, cnn. dont forget witcher 2, the last of us, halo 4, borderlands 2, transformers fall of cybertron, assassins creed 3, tomb raider.

I think you need to check yourself into a psych ward.
