It has a few great moments and got quite a few things right but other than that... No I don't think so.
Especially the way it ended... that and player choice didn't matter one bit.

I used to be apathetic towards Halo, but now I'm willing to give it a go before deciding if it is more worthy of the goty title than ME3

Well? Do you?

No. that last 1% makes it horrible and not replayable.

Critics are the ones who vote and they have given the game 75+ perfect scores. It seems to be on a collision course to many GOTY awards.

No. Even without considering the ending it's a 7/10 game. (imo)

I honestly mean no offense by this, but why are you here then? Were Mass Effect 1/2 radically better for you? I can't imagine you posting in the forums for a 7/10 game otherwise.

EDIT: Also, hell no. People talk about setting a terrible precedent for games by changing the ending. Well rewarding the game in this state sets a pretty bad precedent too.

Despite GOTY being utterly meaningless, no.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

Hell no.

But knowing if the panel is full of IGN/Game Informer/Kotaku staff, it could be definitely GOTY for 2012

must be a slow-ass year for gaming then...

This game might become GOTY, EA bought off the professional critics.
It's still early in 2012 though, still new games on the horizon. And they might be great from start right to the finish. Without destroying themselves in the last 10 minutes.

Without being emotional over it, I would say no, it does not. The game excels in so many ways over ME2 (and even in some areas over ME) that the ending and especaily some plot holes kill any of those advances they made for the series.

I cannot think of another game or game series where I was so vested emotionally. ME3 was awesome while playing through it, and on an emotional scale, something I truly enjoyed. But the plot holes are just too much. IMO, the plot holes are worse than the ending of the game, of which that was bad enough for me.

<_< No and I don't think it deserves a 9/10 or god forbid a perfect score 10/10.

The game as a whole was fine, the fact that the ending was so abundantly poor, for me at least, filters down into the rest of the game. Doesn't outright ruin it, but not GOTY quality in the end.

It will win though, all the artsy journos are gonna vote on it.

It is not even halfway through the year, I don't tend to even THINK about GOTY until the year is at least close to ending.

ABSOLUTELY NOT. Mass Effect 3, story wise, is one of THE worst games in the last decade. No way in hell should it get GotY. And, if it does, it'd be on multiplayer, which, as fun as it is, is NOT enough to beat out games that don't suck. When I beat Mass Effect 1, I immediately replayed it... several times. When I beat Mass Effect 2, I immediately replayed it... several times. I beat Mass Effect 3, watched the other 2 endings on YouTube HOPING to get the foul taste out of my mouth and figured I'd probably never play it again. Since that time I've been playing the multiplayer, which is admittedly very fun, but once I lose interest in that... ME3 is done for me. If this game gets GotY, I will literally throw up, even if that means pulling the trigger. Biggest let down of the century.

I think you need to check yourself into a psych ward.

Yes. It's not perfect, but I don't see anything blowing it out of the water.

People here acting retarded as usual, making a game like this not have the game of the year is ridiculous, even with the endings in account.

Besides, halo 4 will be just as much a letdown, but will still win because it's both a shooter and a halo game, and both of those trump rpg's at award shows no matter the game.

Sorry witcher 2, that goes for you as well.

No despite the ending there are a lot of other things holding ME3 back, not to mention a bunch of good games coming this year.

No, it certainly does not.

It was a great RPG franchise that was taken and dumbed down to a TPS, less importance on dialogue, and the lack of impact of choices made it even worse.

The ending doesn't make any ****ing sense at all, and is so full of contradictions, and plot-holes it's not even funny.

ME2 was the personal choice of myself, that left the best feeling when the credits rolled.

The suicide mission was done amazingly well, and was all about choice.

ME3 choices...not so much, and tons of stuff was left out.

Countless characters from ME1/2, people killed off via twitter, dark energy problem on haestrom/freedom's progress, the giant mass accelerator weapon that took out a reaper was never mentioned again, the intel on cerberus, the impact of the rachni/collector base.

No, it doesn't deserver the 'best of' in anything. Other than the biggest flop of 2012.

The only other game that I have any notable aspirations for this year is Bioshock: Infinite.

I think so even after seeing the ending. I think it can be a contender for GOTY. Still other great games coming out later in the year.

Heck no. This game was rushed to the shelves. The journal was pretty bad and the starchart not showing where you need to go for certain quests was annoying. Still, I could easily handwave that because the first 90% of the game was otherwise brilliant. Them comes Thessia, what little you see of it and when you finally hit Earth it starts to fall apart. Half your war assets are a total no-show. Then the ending happens ... oh god the ending. I don't think I've ever seen a story this good end this bad.

It doesn't even deserve to be nominated.

Yes, decent-sized chunks of it are fun. The shooty parts of it are the best in the series, and there are times when the writing in individual scenes reaches the heights the series is capable of. However, between the long stretches of fetch questing, the massively stripped-down dialogue options, the reduction of "many important choices" to two (Tuchanka and Rannoch), the collapse of multiple story and character arcs under the weight of the series, and, well, the "ending"...I'm sorry. GOTY? No. Just no.

it's only april, but I think the idea is pretty much laughable. unless no one realeses a major title, so it could win by default.

good thing they didn't try to run this in 2011. it wouldn't have even made the top 5.

I just checked the current release dates, and there's at least 3 or 4 titles out towards the end of the year that will probably top this one. AC 3 might take the title this year--finally. DIablo 3 probably the most anticipated game, although I'm not a fan.

Oh well, this'll get locked shortly anyway...:)
