Before the latest patch incident for 360 users I would have said maybe. After? Hell no.

It can gloriously contend for both GOTY and Worst Disappointment. And will probably take both.

Do remember, the year has to end for them awards to start getting handed out by various magazines and whatnot. By then, we will have at least the EC DLC, if not more. People will have calmed down a bit. And, of course, maybe Diablo III will bomb even worse.

It would have been, if the ending wasn't such a fiasco. If they can sort this mess out, then maybe.

No, I rather think it deserves the title "Disappointment of the year" or maybe even "Disappointment of the decade/century" since that's just what it is.

I would've voted for it while I playing it. But then the ending happened.
As much as I love (most of) the game - Forgiving the worst side quest tracking system I've ever seen and auto dialogue - I cannot with good confidence name it the best of anything. Parts of it was truly
amazing but the way it all wrapped up....Urgh.

I also don't want to award Bioware for rushing a game that they should've taken their time with and lying through their teeth about it. I agree with the people calling them out for falsely advertising the game and I really, REALLY don't want to compliment a company that lies to their audience without remorse.

Were you expecting Mass Effect 3 to be the Game of the Decade or something? Huge disappointment can only happen because of huge expectation.

Impossible to say, but I doubt it....it was good, but it wasn't brilliant.

Even with a new and epic ending - no.
The game just felt so... generic at many points. Cutscenes were largely non-interactive, the entire main plot was 100% linear [ME1 you chose what order you did the 4 mid game missions in, ME2 you decided where to go and which squadmates to get first, in ME3 you only take 1 specific path through the story]. Shepard is turned into a character the writers want them to be, not who we created them to be. There are bugs, and poor choices/executions [Journal] and a few other problems that I don't need to list.

What with the net wide rage you really think ME3 will win Game of the Year?

Unfinished products shouldn't even be considered.

No, we expected what Bioware promised.  What they gave is radically different than all the promises they made for a whole year about ME3 being the next coming of Jesus.

What you said isn't in conflict with what I said. Again, huge expectation leads to huge disappointment.

It's only April so there's no point even thinking that just yet.

As previously stated, we are only in April, but anyway I don't really think it deserves it.

At this point, no. As much as it pains me to say it, the ending marred an otherwise perfect experience.
Assassin's Creed 3 looks to be shaping up quite nicely though.

Well, like I posted in the other GOTY thread, I seriously don't feel it deserves it. No, not because of the ending either. There are some truly incredible moments spread throughout the game, but overall it felt too rushed. Another year or so before releasing is what this game needed. Also, while it may be fun, MP was tagged on as a cashcow and SP suffered for it.

Besides, it's way too early to be talking GOTY anyway. We've still got a lot of games down the pipeline. Diablo III (although I don't think it's going to be GOTY material either), Torchlight 2, Borderlands 2, Bioshock Infinite, and Halo 4, just to name a few.

I'm not naive, boy. I expected Bioware to at least keep their promises, that's about it. Unfortunately they didn't keep a lot of them. Is it my fault that I think the game's rather disappointing, then?

Your argument is similar to the artistic integrity joker. Just dish it out and you can never be wrong again, right? Don't make the same mistake as Bioware did and point the finger at people yelling: "This is your fault!". Disappointment or not is not the topic here. It's about why ME3 doesn't deserve the GOTY award and there are simple reasons to why it simply does not deserve the hyped scores that it got.

Mass Effect 3 has serious issues such as the railroaded structure, the ridiculous shortness in comparison the the other 2 ME games and totally dropping the plot in the last 15 minutes of the game and the things I mentioned are just the most obvious ones. It's not about disappointment, it's about facts.

No, but it will probably take it. Undeserved recognition is the driving force behind gaming journalism. It's the same reason Call of Duty gets 10/10s every year even though they've changed almost nothing in since they copied Halo back at CoD 2. And rather ironically, Halo 4 is copying CoD now, console shooters come full circle.

Of course Bioshock Infinite is coming out this year, so, that'll be a heavy hitter.

Compared to what? Hardly anything has come out this year.
