ME3 has allot of isssues imo.
The Multiplayer integration (requirement) that affects the in game ending.
The endings although controversial make the game less satisfying.
The story isn't as tight, I remember the final citadel battle in ME1 vividly and don't feel the same about this one, or the ME2 final battle with it's near death moments.

I would give it a 8/10 (excluding the ending, with ending it would drop it to 7/10), but not likely the best game of the year, its still a long way to go.

However, it had some amazing moments that very, very few games are able to replicate. If you don't believe me, shoot Mordin sometime. That scene is just amazing. Gutwrenchingly painful and amazing.
If Bioware sets aside its pride and fixes the ending, I would vote for them on various sites.

People being stubborn with not liking the ending is really noxious.

It will definitely be most disappointing game of the year, too.

Also, if GTA 5 still comes out this year i'd say there is no way it wins.

Yeah, this is also how I've come to see the game now that I've become more able to look past the ending and instead the other aspects of the game. A lot of stuff about it feels very, very rushed. The journal system is broken for no reason, the plot progresses in a completely linear fashion, Shepard's dialogue is taken out of your hands so often that I feel like i'm playing action mode half the time, quests bug out frequently, the planet scanning/fetching thing is really bad, too many "conversations" are just non-interactive click-on-this-guy moments...it's just a disappointment, through and through. This was a game that obviously needed a lot more development time than it got. For all the things that are done well, there are just as many that are done poorly or simply not done at all.heathxxx wrote...
Simply put, no. Not GOTY material.
Whilst it may be difficult for some to do so, let's forget the "ending". The game itself falls way to short of living up to either of the first two games. Not enough content or "substance" compared to the previous two games. Very poorly executed aspects to the game, with the fetch/carry "missions" being perhaps the best example.
Look beyond (or perhaps literally more accurate would be "before") the ending fiasco, there's much, much more wrong with the game, that's poorly designed and executed.
This was a game and culmination of a series of games, which warranted far more development time and leeway for Bioware, than it ultimately got. Anyone who's taken the time to look at the game without wearing those unavoidable "ending" goggles, can see that very clearly indeed.
Can't suggest alternative GOTY worthy selections at the moment, as the year is yet young, but even now, there's several games out there far more worthy of the accolade.

So yeah and on the cover they could put quotes like "Made by the biggest team of artistic liars ever!"

I could've overlooked the unfinished journal being a major downgrade of the last 2 previous games...
I could've overlooked the treatment of the ME2 squaddies (though I do believe anyone that romanced them deserved MUCH more)...
I could've overlooked all of my petty grievances such as the Joker/EDImance, less in-depth convos on the Normandy (too much ambient dialogue for major characters), and the poor treatment of Tali's face reveal...
I could've overlooked Day 1 DLC containing a new character originally written for the base game...
I could've probably even overlooked the lack of an end boss, an epic fight that got your heart racing with thrilling effects, gritty gameplay, and an awesome background score to complement it...
I could have overlooked all of that if they just would have given us a satisfying conclusion. If they would've ended the game in a way that made all of our choices and hard work mean something. If they would've given us results.
But we didn't get that. We were blinded, thrown into a dark cave, and sent fumbling around for a black cat that isn't even there.
So no, I don't think ME3 deserves GOTY. A conclusion like that should never be rewarded. If this "extended cut" DLC somehow fixes the ending, then I will reevaluate my opinion. But as it currently stands, no.
