If not, can we at least know how it has been performing in general terms? At least something along the lines of: far above expectations, above expectations, according to expectations, below expectations or far below expectations

Well, I hope it is doing really, really well and I think it is - I love the game, but I would love to see at least some sort of intimitation to that effect or see it mentioned somewhere in the media as doing very well. May the game do so well as to be a financial bonanza for BioWare/EA and lead to numerous expansions and sequels!
Numerous sequels eh?

Awesome! That does count for something, since it means the sales numbers must have been substantially higher thant that, as not everybody buys DLC (perhaps it is even a minority who buy DLC).

Until DAO, nothing, and I mean NOTHING that was produced could compare favorably to the previous generation of games as far as story, immersive gameplay, etc: eg., Might and Magic series, Baldur's Gate series, even Neverwinter Nights 1.

They didn't sell 1 million DLC. The revenue for the DLC is $1million.

According to Vgchartz, the 360 version is sold 0.53million and PS3 is sold 0.23million.
Vgchartz is not the most reliable but we can guesstimate the sales.

Generally speaking I'd say DA is doing "ok" -it's not exactly flying of the shelves, but at least it definitely did not flop.
VGChartz places consoles sales of DA around ~800k units worldwide so far. Combined with PC sales I'd wager that's 1.0 - 1.2 million units sold worldwide across all platforms. That's rather solid, though not spectacular.

I wish it sells more. BioWare took long time to develop this game (at least 5 years) and this game deserves more sales.

Anyway, yea hope these sales live up to what Bioware expected.

Indeed...they way it looks right now DA will probably end up with sales figures around ME1 level -probably slightly less.darkblueglass wrote...

A shame considering DA's scope and it's, comparatively, expensive marketing campaign...

This is what I posted in another thread - it's mostly about the first week, and it's limited in details, but it gives you some sense of sales:

Interesting - thanks!
Anyway, I delved deeper into www.shacknews.com and they have sales charts for the subsequent week too. On D2D Dragon Age and its deluxe editions get the two top spots, while on Steam they get spots 2 and 3, the top spot going to Modern Warfare 2.
Dragon Age seems to have sold around 450,000 copies during the first week on the XBOX 360 and PS 3 according to this article: http://news.vgchartz...ews.php?id=5846
According to this chart, by 21st of November, Dragon Age has sold just over 408,000 copies on XBOX 360 and just over 200,000 copies on PS 3 in the U.S. alone: http://www.vgchartz.com/aweekly.php
These charts shows just over 124,000 XBOX 360 and about 23,000 PS 3 sales by 21 November 2009 in Europe and other regions (other than the U.S. that is): http://vgchartz.com/eweekly.php and http://www.vgchartz....s=50&sort=Total (the last chart shows all the console sales up to 21 November 2009, but with less accuracy)
It is actually surprising for me to see just how many more sales are in the U.S. than in the rest of the world combined according to those figures.
I would guess that most sales of dragon age took place on the PC, but figures for that seem to be hard to come by.

Given that the game is more PC fare, and it's conquest of the download charts(Usually with 3 seperate items, too!), I think we can safely assume that PC sales are gonna be pretty good relative to console sales, in fact, I'd say it's probably the primary market.
I would guess the same thing - it was marketed as primarily a PC game anyway (the console releases were only added later in game development after all) and this type of game has traditionally been a PC affair. Indeed, I very much hope that the PC sales are better, since the console sales as indicated in the charts above are not so impressive. I mean they are not terrible - over 3/4 of a million copies sold for consoles by 21 November 2009, but I would expect more from Dragon Age.
Unfortunately, I was unable to find any indication of how much the game has sold on the PC apart from the spots on the download charts for weeks 1 and 2, where it seemed to fare very well.

While PC gaming is growing steadily (as it pretty much always has been), there have been several booms in console gaming that swelled their numbers well about PC gaming's numbers - this, of course, counts all the college kids using them as movie players and the "casual gamers" who bought the Wii (sorry, I know there's different kinds of gaming, but the Wii and stuff like Guitar Hero just are NOT my thing.)

I think it was 1 million dollars of DLC, not 1 million individual bits of DLC.
however, that was a few weeks back... hopefully it's still going strong :-)

On top of that, although consoles are a big thing in the U.S., in many other parts of the world, the PC still reigns supreme as a gaming platform. Whereas Dragon Age in the U.S. outsold Europe/Others by a 4:1 ratio, I would think this ratio would be much more even in the PC-space, since I believe in Europe and the rest of the world, PCs and consoles still have a more balanced market share.
Plus, the charts show that DA has been at or near the top of the digital downloads sales charts for at least the first two weeks after its release (we have no data on subsequent weeks yet).
I would say these indications suggest that it may even have outsold the 360 and PS 3 combined when the digital downloads are factored into the equation. Of course, I am just speculating (and I suppose I am being somewhat optimistic) - I haven't found any actual numbers for PC sales yet.
