I'd have to go with Madmartigan "-I'm the greatest swordsman that ever lived!". Airk Thaughbaer from the same movie (WIllow) was also kinda cool.
And of course one need to mention the forever failing Deamon Slayer; Gotrek Gurnisson (A failure because he keeps on surviving, when the sole purpose of a slayer is to die)
And from RL I'd have to go with Miamoto Musashi and his Niten Ichi-ryū school.

He killed ****s with a longbow for crying out loud!
Edit: Apparently you can't use the acronym for the German National Socialist party.

I'm going to add my vote to Jeanne D'Arc mentioned a few pages back.
Also the Russian "cavalry-maiden" Nadezhda Durova.

Guts from Berserk
Yus.
The cgi trailers with the lone Grey Warden opening the gates to the Blight Stronghold reminds me so much of Guts.
Especially that one scene in the anime where several hundred of Gut's allies ahead of him had been slaughtered charging into a dark castle. As he walks further into the darkness, he sees mangled corpses pile up and screams in further down in the halls. Most people would be scared. He just got more mad.
Zaraki Kenpachi is a close second. He gets so psychotic and maniacal in battles even monsters are afraid of him.
These are the kinds of men you take to fight demons.
