After playing the Salarian Enginner since the release of the demo, I decided to share my experience and my best loadout that I think works best for solo and team use.  I guarantee that this is one of the best setups for the Salarian Enginner.

Requirement: Have (200%) Power  Recharge Speed  with decoy and energy drain

Primary Weapon: Carnifex
Carnifex attachments: High caliber barrel and pericing mod (more armour damage) (very usefull against Guardians and Combat Engineers' backpacks [smilie]http://social.bioware.com/images/forum/emoticons/grin.png[/smilie] )

Secondary Weapon (for emergencies only if you run out of ammo)
(SMGs only and Ultralight materials required, Combine with heat sink attachment)
Best SMG: Geth Plasma SMG, Second best: Hornet, Third best: Tempest
note: don't use SMGs if you cannot reach 200% power recharge bonus

Ammo: Disruptor (for tech bursts)

POWERS:

Decoy: Upgrade duration, shock, and explosion (for tactical use and distraction)

Energy Drain: Upgrade radius, drain, damage (for damage, tech bursts and shield restoration)

Salarian Operative: damage and capacity, headshots, weapon damage

Incinerate: No need, I am not saying it's useless, but you simply don't need it for this loadout!

Fitness: All health and shields

This loadout guarantees survival while doing massive damage with your pistol and tech bursts.

Works best on Geth, works preety well on Cerberus, works good on all Reapers exept Banshees

Best buddy to play with: overload enginners.

Update: Ultralight Materials is broken for all SMGs other than the Geth Plasma SMG - it shows the weight reduction on your weapon screen, but you DO NOT get the cooldown reduction if you look at your Powers screen or test it in-game.

Nice build there !

But I have a question, is the 200% recharge really necessary ? I found that with a Mantis X, at 140% (or 160% with the reduced sniper rifle), you still have a wonderful recharge rate, while needing to stay less out of cover to shoot your weapon.

No back-up weapons. Salarians hold the line untill they die :P

Fitness i just put 3 upgrades, if you know how to use a decoy and stay clear of the shots you don't need more than that ...

I will not recommend that. Your load out is for fb white credit farming behind cover all game against geth. My loadout is for all enemies on all maps. Cerberus and reapers are not attracted to the decoy like flies.

I find that Energy Drain is only kinda meh against Reapers.  It provides a stun, but that's it, unless you target a marauder or a banshee with its shields up.  I end up spamming Incinerate on Reaper rounds instead of Energy Drain.  Energy Drain is more useful on Geth missions by a mile, and it's roughly even on Cerberus rounds.  But definitely don't gimp Incinerate.  I'd say max all three powers and leave the two passives at five and three.

You can already set up your own tech bursts with Energy Drain and Incinerate combos if you spec them for duration and damage.  Besides, you don't want to rely on random drops of Disruptor ammo anyway.

At Kaeser, you will be using your powers all time. This is what I do: energy drain, shoot 3 times, drain, shoot 3 times, reload. This will give you max effetiency while tech bursting.

@wizard, that's why you have peircing mod.for.armour damage and disruptor rounds for tech bursts. The bursts will do.most of.the damage.on the.banshees. Sorry, um.typing on a celphone

Scorpion is heavy and cannot achieve.200 % recharge. And.its not very effective agaisnt armour.

My salarian engineer build is similar to yours (just copied and pasted and made 1 edit to decoy) I have
Decoy: Upgrade duration, shock, and shields

Energy Drain: Upgrade radius, drain, damage (for damage, tech bursts and shield restoration)

Salarian Operative: damage and capacity, headshots, weapon damage

Incinerate: No need, I am not saying it's useless, but you simply don't need it for this loadout!

Fitness: All health and shields

I've been experimenting with a few different weapon loadouts, but i recently found my N7 Valiant II to be really effective. Just 3 manned cerberus gold on giant with turian sentinel and asari justicar. With myself leading in the scores by a large margin

No, my loadout is for anyone who can play like this, if i can --> other people can. FBW farming is a joke, there's no need to think a build for this.

Energy drain will restore your shields and give you some resistance to damage , incinerate will be useful against armored enemies and enemies behind cover

I use a Scorpion on my Engineer... It's only level 1, and therefore doesn't do a whole lot of damage, but it's still effective at clearing out enemies around heavies or your decoy.

Even thou they are effective, the carnifex will give you higher dps if you follow my build. I have the scorpion on lv 4, and I can take down enemies faster just headshotting with carnifex. My build enables me to be out of cover the most times killing while moving intead of hiding behind cover. I have the valiant on lv 2 and it does not.come handy with some enemies at close.range

Believe it or not, the explosion with decoy isn't horribly useful on gold, boosting its shield and duration can really help you micro a defensive position without endangering yourself at the wrong moment...

Scorpion is very powerful when used correctly. With disruptor ammo it can be incredible on an SE, particularly so vs. Geth as they tend to group around your decoy.

It's hard to take down heavies with the Scorpion though. Personally I prefer the recommended Carnifex X + Geth SMG w/ULM, or on occasion (if nobody else is a heavy hitter) I may reach for the Valiant II.

It's worth noting that Incinerate 6 is very, very powerful and nearly required if you do not bring Disruptor ammo or have an overload buddy. Detonating your own tech bursts is a big deal in this case. Personally I don't take it, but I also don't play the build unless I have another Engineer or Turian Sentinel on the team.

The explosion enables to do extra damage while killing small.units such as swarmers, turets amd other small enemies. At fast recharge you can wait.for decoy to.explode then put another one. It also.finishes off some enemies when you.leave it behind to run away. Sorry typing on phone.

Falcon is the best weapon on the salarian engineer. Assuming you are host. If not, I'd go with the geth shotgun if you have it at a high level. I used to use the carnifex but I do more damage with the falcon or the geth shotgun.

I built mine like this:
Energy drain 6: Radius, shields restored, armor boost
Decoy 6: shields and duration, shock, shields and duration
STG 6: power damage and capacity, power damage, weapon damage
Fitness 6: max shields

He is a tank, especially against geth with the armor boost. With rank 6 fitness and the armor boost up I can tank a geth prime salvo without losing health. The damage evolution is kinda pointless compared to it considering i use a falcon or a shotgun anyway, I rely more on drain for survivability than damage.

Consider the time it takes you to kill a prime with the falcon comparing it with the carnifex.

I put zero in incinerate also (6/0/6/6/6), and use this build with Phaeston X...that enables a lot of special ammo downrange quickly...plus I'm quite used to it from playing the Turian Sentinel. Good times, and I'm finding that moving the decoy around instead of spamming it in one place is the ticket - it definitely pisses the Geth off and almost staggers then when they try to figure out why I'm behind them. There always seems to be someone handy to detonate tech bursts from the ED.

Once the heavys' shields are down, I mainly play crowd control on the little guys. They detonate so much easier causing mass chaos and biotics are so much better equipped to handle the big boys with warp-throwage.

but Phaeston still does not win Carnifex's damage and dps to armour.
