Update: Ultralight Materials is broken for all SMGs other than the Geth Plasma SMG - it shows the weight reduction on your weapon screen, but you DO NOT get the cooldown reduction if you look at your Powers screen or test it in-game.

Update: It does work according power screen. Obviously I can't test it reliably in-game because I can barely notice the difference of a fraction of a second, but tested it with the geth smg and there was a difference shown with and without it.

I dunno; I really can't get behind dropping incinerate. It's a ton of damage against the toughest Reaper units. I find the Salarian much more flexible with a 6/6/6/5/3 or 6/5/6/5/4 build. With the decoy and the shield restore from energy drain, you really don't need to put much in fitness to stay alive. Against Reapers, you have to rely on your decoy more or keep an eye out for Marauders to drain.

Similar build to this but just a bit different

5 decoy - shield, shock
6 drain - damage, drain, damage protection for 10s
6 incinerate - radius, DoT, armor damage
5 operative - capacity, power damage
4 fitness - shield

-Don't need 6 in decoy. It already lasts long enough with the first shield+ evolution. Shock to stun rushing enemies
-full
damage drain still doesn't deplete shields all the way. In my
experience, it always took at least 2 ED's (Gold). So only 1 damage
boost is needed and the last two evolutions will ensure survivability.
(Only a full damage ED is useful on Salarian Infil because it will
ensure full depletion of shields with the cloak bonus)
-Incinerate
radius because even if the enemy dodges, it will still hit because of
AoE, which allows for more chances to cause fire explosions. DoT to chip
health for more chances to cause fire explosions.
-5 Operative to maximize power damage
-4 fitness to take advantage of the damage protect and 100% shield restore from ED.

I
think it's 200% with a carnifex X. I just got a carnifex X yesterday
but I'll have to check. As long as you are 190%+ then you are fine.

I
used this class yesterday for Gold and it works really well. I used to
have a 6/6/6/5/3 but I wanted just a bit more shields on this class.

More optimised, and you are useful against armor.

In the STG tree, is it really better going for bullet damage rather than force damage?.
I mean if youre going for tech bursts, wouldnt you want to max ED to hopefully get the killing blow with it.

Re-read the post that you quoted.  It works fine with the Geth Plasma SMG, but no other SMG.

Just a reminder, tech bursts do more damage than incinerate

Second remimder, upgrading power damage does not increase tech burst damage. Just like upgrading power damage does not increase bio explosion damage.

I use my Geth Plasma Shotgun X with the thermal clip mod. 47/5 shots. I up my weapon damage and I chose the energy drain to replenish my shields and add barriers. I don't use energy drain all that much because I don't want to **** up biotic explosions for people. I just camp with the Decoy and Geth Plasma Shotgun them down. I don't use incinerate at all.

Lol, I bet you are doing firebase white camping. This build.for.the .Salarian is for overall use, stop taking this as a build.for.camping belind cover the.whole.game.

I really don't see the point in giving the decoy the ability to explode. 300 damage is nothing, and enemies will rarely be right next to it when its destroyed, and it often simply expires rather than being destroyed anyway. I'd rather give it stronger shields and a longer duration so I can spend less time worrying about needing to refresh it.

I'd rather have incinerate than full fitness. Never noticed a real need for extra shields or health while having both ED and decoy, just use them smartly. If I die on my salarian engineer, it's usually because I'm being dumb and being too aggressive. Sometimes you can set up some great fire explosions too, especially on the trash mobs, if things aren't dying to aoe from biotic explosions or someone overload spamming with you for tech bursts.

You should take Incinerate. You can easily drop points to take it, while also maxing Decoy and Energy drain.

Am I the only one who ignores Decoy?

I've never gotten to grips with it, and frankly don't feel much need to. Incinerate and Energy Drain work well enough depending on who I'm fighting...

I can't endorse skipping incinerate as someone whose most-played class is SE.

While ED is at an absolute premium against geth, and highly useful against cerberus given the prevalence of shields among that faction, it is of very limited use against reapers. And, in that aspect it is a much weaker vehicle than incinerate, which can also both prime and detonate, deals more damage than does ED, and is better-applicable to a larger portion of enemies than is ED.

Ironically, the only time you really want to skip incinerate is on a FBW geth build since you're never in a position that ED loses its premium status as a damage power such as you would against reapers. This is especially true for the fact reapers are less liable to attack your decoy than are geth or cerberus, and coupled with the fact there are only two enemies from which you can drain to replenish your own shields that are both sparse and low-priority targets you cannot play the indefinite decoy waiting game.

The most versatile, toughest build I've found for SE is, as others have said, 6/6/6/5/3.

Nope, I don't put any points into it. With incinerate and energy drain you have a tool for everything, coupled with my Valiant I (doubt it'll ever get much higher) my guy's a beast.

Decoy is unnessary for FB White farming, provided the team camps properly.

Decoy is one of the most amazing control skills. Have a hacking objective to get to and there's a bunch of mobs in the way? Put out a decoy in their line of vision and they'll be focusing that so your team can kill them much quicker and more safely. Sometimes it can catch banshees and you don't have to worry about kiting them, they just stand there stupidly at your decoy. Same with other OHKO mobs. Use it where enemies will see it before they see you and you'll save yourself from a lot of fire.

Let me make it clear that this build is not for firebase white farming. Its for all the maps, and.its.a build for Gold

Which is why it should have Incinerate.  Your build is actually designed for FBW Geth farming...A 6/6/6/5/3 is the best all-round Gold build, and the one I use.

With all due respect (I really mean that, btw), you've made this quite clear, but your build says otherwise.  On Gold, your shields drop so fast that the extra points in fitness are a minor boost, at best.  If you truly are spamming ED as often as you say, you should be keeping your shields refilled anyway, at least on Geth and Cerberus.  Incinerate gives you more versatility.

I know it's hard listening to people rip on your build, but you did put it out there for us to do so.

Yup, full stop.

Against reapers you want to switch your tactics to setting up fire explosions with incinerate and detonating with energy drain. Outside that, unless there's a marauder or a banshee nearby to drain, ED is a less useful skill than incinerate save detonating others' tech bursts. That's especially true given the proclivity for the generic reaper troops to cluster together. If your goal is consistency, versatility and self-reliance, then you cannot skip incinerate, because to do otherwise leaves you at the mercy of consumables and the RNG in the case of ammo powers or at the mercy of team composition.

Given the classes tanking abilities from Energy Drain and Decoy, skipping Incinerate is a net mistake that will cost you DPS. You could have Decoy & Fitness at 4 or Salarian 5 & Fitness 3 without significantly compromising your durability, but you will suffer a significant DPS dip against significant threats such as Ravagers, Brutes, and Banshees without Incinerate. Indirect fire + Decoy also has its life-saving applications.

Edit: Ninjaed many, many times over.  Too many windows open.

Instead of using incinerate I am using the carnifex, which deals more damage than incinerate. The Carnifex is a big part of this build. Fire explosions are not as reliable since.it.only happens when an enemy dies.

Yup, even against Cerberus and Geth is incinerate very useful. For example, knocking nemesi out of cover with an arced incinerate is a death sentence. Their behavior dictates they run for the hills when taking damage, which gives you an opportunity to ED to shieldgate and stagger them, which makes them a headshot or two away from death. And if for some reason you can't get them with the headshots, they either run to cover and burn to death or you can fire explode them with a second ED. It also comes in very handy against phantoms, who have a tendency to back off fast if you lob tracking projectiles at them (read, incinerate) or at the very least causes them to do their acrobatic dodge or go into the power-immunity stance which buys you time to reposition or throw out a decoy.

And yes, this build is for.players that have credits all the time and have the ability to have disruptor ammo.all times. I have probably used up like 40 disruptor ammo III last week only playing Gold.

Pretty sure it doesn't deal more damage than an AoE Incinerate that hits multiple enemies, or an Armor Damage incinerate that hits armor, or a tech burst.
