Same here. I started to notice this annoying loading, half way through the game. They probably started at level 14. I have to shut down the game every 1-2 hours. Or else the loading starts from 3 minutes then it goes all the way to 12 minutes per load.

As an admitted no lifer on disability, I'll start having load screen issues after about 10 hours of consecutive gaming, at which point, it's probably more to I have actually filled up my 2gb of RAM and should restart and maybe eat anyway...

Never. The times I thought long loading was due to the possibility of a memory leak, it was instead due to a server connect error that occurred right after an in-game cutscene as it tried to load a new area. If I could avoid the connect error, I avoided the long loading, and hence no problems with memory leaks that I can tell. I've 8GB RAM, though, so I'm not sure if that matters.

I've had several crashes, too, although again I don't think this is due to a memory leak. And since it's tech related, let's move this thread over there.

Good for you mr moderator, not all of us have 8 GB of RAM. I quit every two hours of playing.

I'm not sure if its a memory leak or not, but I've experienced a lot of crashes with the game. More than any other game I've played in the last several years, actually. Loading times haven't been an issue though, although they do seem to take longer if I've had the game running for a long time.

Thus far I've not had any of these problems. *knocks on wood* It may have to do with running around mediumish settings with a good mobo and processor...my video card is the only thing holding me back.

I find myself doing it about every 30 minutes, I deal with it for a bit then say screw it and reload, and occasionally that doesn't help, I thought putting it on the lowest settings would help and it didn't, plus it just makes the video scenes terrible. Just a note I only got 4 GB of ram

Never. I also have 8GB of RAM, like Kevin though, so I am not really in the danger zone for this.

Depending on what zone I am in, if I am doing a lot of loading then probably every 30-hour(Orzammar). If I am not loading a lot then I can probably go 2 hours before I need to restart

I ought to do it once an hour. Instead, I sit through five minute loading screens telling myself that next time I'll restart the game.

I've just 2 GB of RAM and I can't say that I've noticed that leak much. There were certain moments when opening a merchant window was actually taking 5 seconds instead of being instant, but that was after 3-4 hours game session, so I'm at least grateful that the game wasn't crashing on me without any errors or saves. My PC doesn't have impressive specs, but running game with most video settings on high or very high I've yet to notice serious FPS drops during fights or cutscenes.

I don't expect many do. I was mentioning it because it's quite possible that having that much RAM limits any effect that a memory leak, if there is one, has on my game/system. No need to be snappish.

I have 4gb of ram, and I notice a performance decrease after 15-20 minutes of play. I also notice that, the more time I have invested on a character, the longer everything takes to load in general.  I've had five minute load times going from Wade's  Shop back to Denerim before.

I haven't re-started my computer since the game came out.

The longest I have played is about 8 hours straight, but I play a little every day and I never shut my computer off. My normal play is about 2 or 3 hours, but never seen an issue.

Are you re-starting just the game, or must you re-start the computer?

The only one issue I had is when Adobe decided to download an update - so I shut that off. Something that might help - shut down any background running programs. If you are using your computer "Out-of-the-Box" so to speak there is probably a ton of crap running you are not even aware of which can be a cause of the issue.

EDIT
Windows Vista SP2 32bit
4GB Ram
1GB Video RAM

If you have shared RAM with your vid card, -  tisk tisk Image IPB

About the same as this. :crying:

I keep telling myself I'll stop playing for the night right after this next area. No reason to restart since I'll be shutting down soon anyway. 5 areas later I finally restart.

Been working overtime to get my new computer with 12 gigs of ram. Soon I'll come on the forums and berate everyone for playing the game with there old crappy pcs.

While it seems that Dragon Age is the cause of the memory leak in many cases, in mine's it's not.

As fortunately I seemed to have fixed the leaky memory along with freezes/lockups when I was rolling back my onboard sound driver to fix a problem with another game ironicly.. And I can't answer why it worked or even if that's the fix.

Because over time I've been thinking that it was older stuffed drivers of my onboard sound that I didn't properly clean when upgrading that might've caused it. If you have HD Audio nevertheless, I think it's worth a try to move back to 6.50a.

Considering that a memory leak results in running out of memory (AKA: RAM)....

------------------

Why are you all restarting the client? Simply exiting to the main menu resets it. No need for a full restart.

I generally have to exit there every 3 logo loading-screens (not black loading-screen) area loads or so to keep area load times down.

Before I replaced my processor - 30 mins - 1 hour tops.

After replacing my processor - no "memory leak."

I have to restart DA:O every 1-2 hours. Although I notice it slowing down after the first 30-45 minutes. I have 2 gbs of RAM running on WinXP.
