Absolutely, I'd love to have a batarian between my ranks. Well ****, if Vega had only been a batarian observer for the trial it'd been so much better. He'd have served the purpose of 'introducing Shepard's story' as well as Mr Vega does, but would have spiced things up so much more.

The squad is lubriciously small (even with Javik), I wouldn't say no to a couple of DLC squad mates like Kasumi and Zaeed. A Batarian would be an interesting addition. Who knows, maybe they could end up being ME3's Drizzt equivalent.

I think there's a lot of potential in a Batarian Squadmate actually.
At first he resents humanity, and if you're paragon with him he starts to like you and then he becomes a bro. If you are renegade with him then he keeps hating humanity.
Sadly, there aren't really full-fledged conversations on the Normandy anymore :/

There's a certain Batarian from ME1 that will ally with the Alliance if you play your cards right in ME3 because his hatred for the Reapers is greater then that for the Alliance. It would make sense to go that route and have a Batarian squad mate. Wrap him around a mission based DLC a la Zaeed in 2.

There's a whole bunch of squadmates I'd rather have.
I want Aria as a permanent squaddie and LI. Same goes for Parasini. I want some ME2 squaddies and as I've stated before: a human from our time, who uses "ancient" firearms and is shocked at the new tech and terrified of Krogan and Turians.
Heck, it'd be awesome to somehow have Anderson on your squad.
