My only problem is that potentially 4 previous LI's can not be squadmates.

With reduced cast I expected more dialogue with each, but it didn't happen so I don't know why there couldn't have been 6 other Zaeeds in my squad. I preferred ME1's squad of 6 but it's still ok as it is.

I just wish they would've brought back one or two of the squadmates from ME2. I spent a lot of time getting to know those people too, and I would've liked to have more interaction with them. I would easily trade EDI for someone from Mass Effect 2...not to say that I don't like her character, because she's awesome, but she's pretty much useless to me as a squadmate.

Also, I love Ashley, but I was extremely disappointed with how little interaction there was with her aboard the Normandy. Being my squadmate, and my LI, I assumed I would get to talk to her, instead of frequently being talked at. Besides that though, I like almost everyone that we have in game, including James and Javik. Still, a bit too much auto-dialogue for my tastes.

I did not mind the squad so much but I would have changed 1 for sure and thats EDI.

I liked here as a piece of self aware programming but as soon as they gave her a body (especially that one) I lost interest in her for the most part and did not take her on many missions.

I really liked Javik (much more than i thought i would) and i thought he was a well written charector and the same for Vega i thought i would hate him but he kinda grew on me real fast and i used him a fair bit.

The others such as the vs and liara i found boring but perhaps im just used to hearing them from the other 2 games but this does not apply to Garrus he rocks no matter what...imho... and if he was the only squaddie i would not be unhappy.

I really could've done without Vega, EDI, and this tarted up ME3 version of Ashley that looked like she was ready to go out clubbin' instead of looking like a useful soldier. I really wish would could've had more selectable, permanent squadmates from the previous installments. Hell, I would've liked to have used Zaeed and Kasumi, even.

I wanted Wrex or Wreav as a squadmate. They had a similar role as Tali (war room politician), so why couldn't Wrex be a squadmate as well?

Tali was one out of five leaders (and the newest one to the role). Wrex (or Wreav, if you killed/failed to recruit Wrex) has been leading the Krogan for close to three years now. He has a LOT more to do than Tali does, especially as he is the only Krogan leader (as opposed to Tali, who has four other admirals as back-ups). Besides, let's be honest here: Wreav is a moronic, arrogant ******. Doesn't deserve to pall around with Shepard.

I would've liked to have Miranda stick around, and maybe a Krogan.

I thought EDI taking a place as a squadmatge was very cool and surprised by that.
I really liked Javik at first and wanted to continue, but he just turned me off with his pessimism etc.. I did enjoy crew members conversations with him though and was part of the reason I always went to talk to everyone after each mission lol.

I could have done without Liara. Seriously, Bioware, no thanks.

loved Javik and Tali and very much enjoyed Vega.

I liked EDI well enough, in spite of the ridiculous body. I would have preferred Kasumi or someone else in her place, though.

I liked Ashley, but I wish there had been more interaction with her for FemShep. I haven't played through yet with Kaidan, but I've heard good things, so I'm looking forward to it.

I adored Garrus. I loved the interactions with him.. but I could never get enough of him.

I don't like James, I'd rather have a Krogan.

My least favorite squad by far. They said they wanted deeper interaction but you had less conversations with them. You could talk to your ME2 squadmates wayyy more. The only thing that improved was squad banter, which you have no part in.

I liked the selection options.

I would have liked squad members who are Salarian, Krogan, Geth, Drell etc.
I like to have as many perspectives open as possible in the game. Hearing the geth perspective on things really helped shape my choices in ME2 and in the end ME3.
But i liked the crew i got.

And i honestly don't get all the Javik hate, he was a well written character.

Agreed 100%
I think the ''deeper interaction'' part was just an excuse. Instead of introducing three new, poorly written characters, they should've simply kept the old crew aboard... Last part of the trilogy isn't really the time to introduce new characters imo.

I take Javik and James with me everywhere, since I have no real interest in everyone else. It's not that I dislike the squad (except maybe fembot!EDI) but more that I don't have any real investment in them. I'm burnt out on Garrus and Tali, would prefer to keep the Shadowbroker on the ship doing work, and I never felt a real pull with the VS. Grunt, Mordin, Legion, Jack, Miranda, Thane, Samara, Wrex...I would've preferred any one of these to what we got.

I feel that Garrus and Tali have no business being squadmates in mass effect 3. That doesn't mean that they shouldn't be in the game, but they shouldn't be squadmates. There is no LOGICAL reason for them to join you on the Normandy instead of either fighting the reapers or working on the crucible, not to mention that they haven't changed at all and have no interesting character development during mass effect 3. Bioware had the opportunity to introduce new and interesting perspectives for the mass effect 3 experience (which is what made 2 so entertaining for me) and instead they just fell back on what they knew.

Yeah, I really think the ME2 sqadmates were a labor of love. I came to like them more than the ones from ME1, apart from Garrus of course.

But I disagree when it comes to James. When I first saw him I though, give me a break. Stereotype muscle man with a gun where the brain should be. But to me it seem he's the most rounded character they newly introduced.

Short answer: somewhat disappointed.
Despite the squad being smaller, I didn't get the impression that our interactions were SO much more meaningful. Yes, shooting bottles with Garrus was cool, but after ME2 with 12 pals, I felt something was amiss. And don't even get me started on EDI's ridiculous body and Ashleys redesign - I just don't see why Bioware insisted on making them "sexy". Also, we need WAY more aliens on the Normandy. I mean, we're uniting pretty much the entire galaxy, so why are we so limited an squadmates. I wanted to see the most differing people - batarians, drell, vorcha, yahg, hell, perhaps even a hanar or elcor! Also, the squaddies from ME2 deserved more than cameos.
Just me humble opinion.

This was one of my big problems as well. I liked my crew well enough...I guess. I got a couple of old favorites in Tali and Garrus, but I didn't like some of the exclusions. Felt like I should have been allowed to have more of my crewmates back.

What was there was good for the most part, Vega and Ashley aside, but it felt like a step backwards from ME2 where I had LOTS of people to choose from. Ship felt empty at times by comparison.

I was heartbroken when I discovered that I wouldn't be able to use Samara in ME3. And Legion. Even Jack. ME2 squaddies got the shaft in pretty much every way, and they were my favorites. If it weren't for Garrus and Liara, I would probably not have finished one playthrough.

I would have gladly traded Tali in for any one of ME2 squaddies. I have no use for her, or her emergency induction port.

Edit: On a sidenote, and more on topic, I did enjoy Javik, Vega, and EDI. Each one brought a type of humor I wasn't expecting. I think the squad is too small, though. The bar on the Normandy is totally being wasted.

James surpriced me positively - he was a good addition to the team. Otherwise, I think the team is too small, which reduces replayability because there are fewer permutations of teams you can try out on different quests. Would have liked to have seen a few more new characters introduced and recruited.

I liked it. James was a nice addition, he wasn't all what he seemed at first. Shame we couldn't have more ME 2 squaddies but I don't think it would of worked in the story or at the verry least would have been a **** to sort out for the Dev team. I heart Garus.

I think Wrex answered that to my femshep.  He said something like, "It's nice not to be down in the cargo hold.  I still don't have a window like Liara, but I assume that's because she kisses better."

I enjoyed the squad mates as they stand. Although I probably preferred an ME2 mate instead of Vega, he's still funny enough to keep.

EDI though, she can just leave. I don't mind her but as a squad mate I never used her once.
