I would ask of you a boon.
If it does not bother you, I have read some of your posts in other threads and some of them say how there were massive plot details left out of the final game and that there are many changes that were not implemented into the game.
Would you kindly post a reply to this thread of a few of the plots that were left out of the final game?
I realise I probably should have just PM'ed you but I would like the whole community to be able to see your answers if they wish.
Warning to all others that read this, if David Gaider replies this will likely contain MASSIVE spoilers, read at your own risk.
Thank David if you even read this and just disregard it.
I love what you have done with the plot of <3DA:O<3.
Please continue to make the Lore of this world amazing!

No, I don't think that's a good idea. When people hear about cut content they immediately get the idea that what was cut was perfect -- when the truth is it was likely not working at all, not likely to be made to work or not even started (many things are cut while still in there formative stages) -- and you end up with a response like "Wha-aaat?! How could you have cut THAT?!". So playing a game of "what might have been" is not really healthy, I think.1xs3thx1 wrote...

Plus I don't really want to re-live it.

Ha! You make a good point. People always attach unwarranted value on stuff they can't/don't have.David Gaider wrote...

That said, I heard rumors that you guys were initially going to encorporate lyrium addiction into game play. If that's true, then thank god you didn't. Because that would have been really annoying... like the Spirit meter/cravings in NWN2: MoB... a tedius design I didn't really enjoy.

Why is there no option to execute Anora? I don't see how this would be too costly to implement, all it would take is another execution scene like with Loghain, a couple of NPC reactions, and then some lines in the epilogue. It's out of character for Alistair, I agree, but what if you persuaded him, and he was hardened, and you had a high Coercion?
The only explanation I can think of is that she is pivotal in some future content, but you can also lock her up in a tower and she is never heard from again.

You have your answer right there. We were busy cutting unnecessary cutscenes because of insufficient cinematics resources to cover all the variations we wanted in some of the plots. You don't need to execute Anora, and pulling out the "murder knife" for some kind of weird stabbing ending was hardly appropriate.Krigwin wrote...

See? Hardly a satisfactory answer, I'm sure. So I'm not going to answer any more "why isn't there X?" questions, if you don't mind.

Who thought of the line "The cake is a lie?"

So in other words, i'd rather not know what was left on the cutting room floor. And i'd imagine lot of the stuff there propably belongs there.

I am also curious about who the portal fan was that suggested the cake line though.

I find the behind the scenes creative process fascinating. Like what was written first. Or how you first came up with the concept of the story.
I am guessing that Loghain's actions at Ostager and it's reprecussions is the genesis of the story. His motivations relate to his and Ferelden's recent history. There is the moral dilemma of whether to betray a King. It unleashes the Darkspawn threat and the civil war.
It seems like you designed the setting of Ferelden and figured out what ripple effects the chaos arising from Loghain's actions would have on each community. It is almost as though Ferelden has to be written as a main character because it can change so much.

Wait. No. Wrong question.
Why are all the chickens white? Surely there could be black and brown ones.

I wonder, was there a "Yuthura Ban" in this game, a character you wanted quite badly, but just couldn't get into the game? I still have Denouement, believe it or not, and I still love it.
