Was Shale originally supposed to be part of the full game and not DLC?

You have your answer right there. We were busy cutting unnecessary cutscenes because of insufficient cinematics resources to cover all the variations we wanted in some of the plots. You don't need to execute Anora, and pulling out the "murder knife" for some kind of weird stabbing ending was hardly appropriate.

See? Hardly a satisfactory answer, I'm sure. So I'm not going to answer any more "why isn't there X?" questions, if you don't mind.

Actually I think we did need the option to execute Anora and perhaps leave the land leaderless at least than the people that wanted to play evil could have a satisfactory ending instead of basically ending it as if you played the hero all along.

Really I don't think it would of been to hard to put in a ending cinematic where you basically pull an Arthas and run her through at the end.  It also wouldn't effect much and would leave a good cliffhanger.

IMO as a person who played evil I was left so unsatisfied with the ending /result of my actions.

I have to say I have been very satisfied with the endings I have had/know about so far. I confess that I am "evil impaired". However the bittersweet ending I got for my Dalish rogue was very much in keeping with the "grey" DA:O theme and I was quite satisfied with Anora in the tower, my rogue as chancellor, Alistair on the throne (presumably to marry someone else). I hope that some of the ideas that were cut make it as DLC between now and DA:O 2 (fingers crossed). Thank you David for all of your answers to questions over the years.

Well than you would be.  For an non evil impaired view point however you are left very unsatisfied.  NWN 2 all over again what a disapointment.

Yeah you have a 5 foot sword in your hand and you opt for some knife you don't even have in your inventory.

I hate when there are cut scenes where you kill huge bad guys,  and the game gives you a two handed sword... even if you're a mage. Aww c'mon! No fireball?

I think that deathblows would have been very tricky with mages because you would have one of a trillion possible spells but for the purpose of a cutscene where you don't issue the attack command some kind of lightning strike would have been appropriate.

If you say Mr. Awesome MacAwesomness Bann Teagan was supposed to be a joinable NPC, I will torment your soul from the fade every night you will be dreaming! I can do that... I am a... huh... demon, ok?

I was looking through the various files, and it seems as though at one point, people would speak elven, human, dwarven, and qunari to you.

Jeez, that would be a nightmare to implement.

Though, I do remember BioWare had hired a linguist for Jade Empire. I suppose from this information we are to assume they've created full, working grammars for the four languages.

David, since you seem to be answering questions here and you never answered my other thread asking why, Ill ask again here.

What is the REAL reason for no frontal nudity in a 17+ game.

Many have suggested its the soccer moms backlash from Mass Effect and the USA screwed up morality clauses but I want to know from Bioware themselves the answer.

As Ive said before , this is a immersion issue for me, not a cheap thrill issue. I find the love scenes with bras and panties to be laughable and they get more tacky every time I see them and I cant help but imagine how well they could have played out if just done properly for a 17+ ADULT game!

Im not a fan of censorship, I dont watch Sopranos on A&E for that reason as well.

Why did Bioware take such a **** foot direction for something that really should have been a gimme in a 17+ ADULT video game?

Looking forward to your reply!

I imagine it was a development team decision with probably just as many reasons to include clothing as to have everyone naked. In the end, they decided to go with the undies and I can't really fault them for it. As for official response, if you get one, it'll probably be along the lines of 'the current version fit our vision for Dragon Age.'

Even if it were strictly American Public Reaction (which I doubt), they wouldn't publicly blame their decision on the current political climate.

If you go by the outlines of rating system (http://en.wikipedia....re_Rating_Board) the depiction of sex and nudity --rather than just sexual themes/content-- can earn the game AO rating rathen than M rating. Many retailers refuse to carry games with the AO rating, that makes the developers/publishers very wary about crossing that particular threshold.

Sadly, it does make the cutscenes laughably bad.  MEs were much better.  Saw nothing, but felt a lot better, more natural.  ME's was polished.  DA's scenes felt rushed, compromised.  It detracted from the moment.

Basically, the feel I got from the love scenes in DA is that they slapped the underwear on to avoid nudity.  That means most likely there was a design change, so it was added late to cutscenes originally planned for nudity, or else there wasn't enough time to set up the cutscenes like they were in ME initially and so the underwear was there was the start.

Hopefully, when they get around to DA2, they'll go with ME's route.  Don't need nudity for a good game and if that means they can sell more copies, excellent, it'll insure more good games.  But things that are obviously out of place do hurt.

Well, both the underwear (and the scenes themselves, with the forthcoming toolset patch) can be removed/edited as one pleases so given this it's imo better they have them included in their basic shape rather than if the scenes were not present to begin with...

I believe Susan Sarandon said it best. To paraphrase. "When a woman shows up topless on screen, people tend to miss the next several next seconds of anything that's going on. All they can see are boobs."

You know you have to do the killing blow, and the warden needs to be nearest to the beast for it to be really killed, so some ranged attack won't do. There are darkspawn about who could otherwise be used as vessel for the archdemon's soul.

I really do find it odd that thats the only way to kill it.  Should be other ways to kill it if they bother on trying.

Plus don't you have to actually remove the head? That would require you to grab a nearby sword.
