I'd like to know once and for all: does the shotgun blade attachment also boost heavy melee or just regular melee?

Someone told me today that it only affects normal melee and not heavy melee. Can someone confirm this or post a source? Otherwise I will stop using it, cheers.

I will test this tomorrow - I am just about to go to sleep - and testing this takes time ...

Tested it. Yes, it does make heavy melee better.

This seems like a good topic to ask this question, I'm sure its a stupid question, but do the melee mods continue to give benefit even if said weapon is holstered? If I take a shotgun and a pistol both with a melee mod will I get 2x the benefit, or only the benefit of the weapon I am currently holding?

Why would you gain the benefit of something you're not using?

The greatest troll answer that's ever been invented on these forums. You can't argue with that kind of logic.... it's the answer to everything.

Why does it affect heavy melee then? Heavy melee doesn't use the weapon.

The Krogans do heavy melee with their weapons. The weapon is at least in use in some form, even if the heavy melee *animation* doesn't use it. Either way, it doesn't make sense for the player to benefit from the stats of an item they are not using.

Ok  SP test results are in

Infiltrator Heavy Attack vs Ravager Insanity (35% Melee Damage from fitness)

H Attack with Viper drawn
6000 - 5392.5 = 607.5
450 * (1 + 0.35) = 607.5  As expected

========================

H Attack with Scimitar // Predator drawn with melee add-on 22.5 %

6000 - 5255.8125 = 744.1875 HA

SURPRISE
450 * (1 + 0.35) * 1.225 = 744.1875
NOT ONLY DID THE MELEE ATTACHMENT WORK WITH HEAVY MELEE - IT ALSO STACKS MULTIPLICATIVELY with the bonuses from passives

=======
also tested normal attack

6000 - 5751.9375 = 248.0625
150 * (1 + 0.35) * 1.22500 = 248.0625

==================
==================

The melee add-on acts in a similar manner to a weak head shot modifier (*1.25 at  lvl V) for melee attacks (both normal and heavy)  ...

This. Couldn't be more legit if it was from Bryan himself

Melee is melee, I never question whether it boosted Heavy Melee because it is MELEE.

Followup question:  Does the weapon type have any effect on melee damage?  Does a krogan heavy melee with a claymore do the same damage than a krogan heavy melee with a shuriken?  Sometimes I run around with a scorpion+tazer on my krogan soldier.

Thanks!

I was just wondering the same thing, although I'm wondering for the Geth. Will a heavy melee with the shotgun/blade attatchment do more damage than a heavy melee using a pistol/stunner attatchment?
