I have a question regarding the Genesis DLC for Mass Effect 2 and Importing Save games for Mass Effect.
Can someone confirm if this DLC alter or not the choices you made (minor or major) in Mass Effect? The opening is different for my renegade save game imported when I have Genesis installed. I wonder if it also changes the save game I imported in any other way. Any information/confirmation would be greatly appreciated (without assumptions of course).

Genesis is not "DLC" at all (by definition, DLC adds something new to do). It's an add-on that was designed to assist PS3 game players who never had any ME-1 version of their own, and then offered on a wider basis for PC & Xbox gamers to use if they never bought ME-1, or didn't like any of their own completed game saves from ME-1.
If you do like your own ME-1 saves, then you have no reason to have the Genesis add-on at all.

I am fully aware of the main purpose of Genesis, BW's website already gives a pretty clear description...
You are not answering my question at all. I want to know if Genesis alter the imports from ME1. And I don't understand why you say Genesis is not DLC. It is downloadable content for PC.
Anyway, I removed it to prevent any possible interference with my imported save games and I'll simply move it back in its folder when my friend wants to start his NG in ME2. Problem solved.

I didn't start this thread to debate if Genesis is DLC or an addon (it is BOTH for Bioware - click the link and see for yourself). I couldn't care less how it is called anyway, as long as we all know what I'm talking about. As I said, the problem is solved already: I'll install Genesis only when my friend (who didn't play ME1) wants to play ME2. Tschüss.

I wish I could say, I bought the Genesis addon to avoid having to play Mass Effect again because of the graphics. Overall when I tried to play, the Genesis addon interfered and I was capable of making choices but everything was bugged. im not sure how this effects the game because I don't want to become disappointed by playing through the game only to find out that there are points that don't play in context to what I did in Mass Effect 1. I hope this helps in any way : / probably not though

Shaft-of-light, have you imported the saves via the ME2 Configuration Tool? I know it looks like you ought to be able to do it in a couple fo clicks in the game's menus but this ain't so. You need to import via the tool and my experience has been that you also need to do it again every time you create a new Shepard career by completing ME1 again.
