So..I still have not played Mass Effect 3, I'm currently on my 2nd playthrough of Mass Effect 2 in preparation for Mass Effect 3.
My question concerns Kelly, in my 1st playthrough I got her to have dinner with me and feed the fish very early on.

But this time I waited a bit longer until I chose the "I'd embrace you" dialogue bit.
On the next conversation she kind of referred to that and asked for a confirmation and I acknowIedged.
I also almost always chose the flirty option with exception for the hugging bit. Maybe that was a mistake.
I never got that bit of conversation after recruiting Samara that was supposed to be one way of getting the dinner!

Now all thats left for me to do are 2 Sidequests, Tali&Legions loyalty quests, the Reaper IFF and the Suicide Mission.
And the romance still hasnt progressed any further. Did I miss every opportunity already?

Since I pursued no active romances this time, I guess I will be able to invite her to my quarters after the Suicide Mission. But will this be enough for her to appear in Mass Effect 3? I read multiple times that you need to have the dinner and the fish feeding dialogue for her to show up and the romance alone does not suffice.

So lastly, if I definitely missed that, is there any way to alter the savegame with gibbed editor and set the dinner/fish flag to true?

I never had much luck with the Kelly romance but I'll tell ya what I know and let others chime in. First, you probably best tell her that your previous romance is over. Talk to her often after every mission for more flirting! Eventually after the Suicide mission (and after you travel to another system), she'll send ya a private message to invite her to your cabin. The Mass Effect wiki (google it) has some detailed info you should check out.

Also if Kelly survives DON'T buy more fish until you talked to her in the refugee camp. Also tell her to CHANGE her name. I screwed up bad the first time encountered her there. Just trying to save you some pain otherwise.

I'm pretty sure that I will get her private message after the suicide mission.
But does that mean she's also gonna feed my fish, and will appear in ME3?
I believe I'm already past the private dinner triggers. :/

I romanced Liara in ME1 and in LOTSB I broke up.
I already friendzoned Miranda and Jack before that.
Tali is still stuck dialogue wise because I havent yet done her loyalty mission but I'm not going to romance her this time.

Why cant I buy fish before talking to Kelly in ME3? If I visit the Citadel, which one do I reach first, the fish vendor or the refugee camp? If the fish comes first, I'll have to remember that.

Final update, I finished the game now.
And I did not get Kellys message!
I really missed the dinner opportunity.

However, I found a guide to mod the savegame so Kelly gets added in ME3.

I directly compared the values with my 1st playthrough savegame where I got Kelly romanced.
I only had to do steps 2 & 3 (2458, 3817 and add romance points)
After that I got her email and Kelly came up to my room :]
I also got the fish tank dialogue right the first time I started a convo with her.

Mission Accomplished
