I love the Phaeston X on my charachters that can't control the recoil of my Revenant X. If you want Phaeston to X then buy veteran packs. Trust me it's viable if you use it properly.

try using the stabilty mod and learn how to interupt reloads by either running or using powers halfway through the Revenants reload animation.
firing the Revenant at very close ranges also helps

Phaeston works well with human engineers against marauders on Silver

I used to love phaeston but it really not good in Gold. I have all silver ARs at rank X and Phaeston is not top tier among silvers.
Most people use Phaeston in Bronze and rock with it. High fire rate coupled with stability mod and burst firing from cover will kill everything.
On Silver it's OK but armored target will be a problem and AP mod is mandatory. It will take a while longer to take down mobs. Turians become a good candidate when using this gun.
On Gold, this AR becomes a watergun even if you can land headshot most of the times. It just refuse to kill any enemies, even with EB mod on the gun due to high HP. Don't mention armored target if you don't have anything to negate 50 DR on Gold since you will land a minimal 5 damage per shot.
Among silvers, you might want to try Mattock or Vindicator since both of them still usable on Gold. I used them both as Turian sentinel and Geth engineer, both of which spec as a caster. Weight of both guns are acceptable since you only lose 0.2- 0.3 recharge time with higher damage per shot to compensate.

For Marksman based Turians I would recommend an N7 Hurricane if you get one or a Hornet. Much lighter and have access to UL Materials (if/when it gets fixed) allowing you to carry a Carnifex X as well and keepa 200% Cooldown (again when UL gets fixed/when Hurricane gets some upgrades)

I just slapped it on my Human Soldier and have been spamming Adrenaline Rush constantly with it. During a solo-run on Bronze to test viability, it got me 20 headshots and 75 assault rifle kills within 5 waves, which I don't think is too shabby. I tried it on the Turian Soldier but didn't like it as much, I think the damage boost outweighs the RoF buff, IMO.

The Phaeston X is my go to gun for Human Soldier, Turian Soldier and Sentinel as well as Geth Engineer(at least until I can get more ranks in the Geth Pulse Rifle for the GE). The gun's awesome with an armor piercing and damage mod. I love it. Use it in gold all the time and end up being #1 most of the time if that makes any difference.
Edit: Will change the Phaeston to the Revenant for the Turian Soldier when I get better ranks in it though. Otherwise, Phaeston's my favorite weapon.

Mine's at like VII. I like using it on bronze and silver, but I've never even given it a chance in gold yet. I don't think it does enough damage to be useful yet in gold.
